This was recently brought to my attention again and I signed our company up. I Figure I would spread the word about a great cause. I'm going to suggest to our local paper they do a little story on it to promote the cause too.

matt, thanks for bringing this up - ive known about it but never did anything. I just signed up to care for two residences this year. I just hope I can find two families to care for. We shall see.

I had heard of it too last year too but we were too busy to do much else. I figure I have worse habits of spending money, I might as well make something of it for once.

I signed up for 3 to see how it goes. We don't have a huge military presence around here but there are a few families. A good friend of mine is heading out to Afghanistan again and I told him I'd be happy to care for his parents place.

A little story that came about from out last snow storm. Was out plowing, about 4 in the morning. Gentleman approaches me, and I don't remember the whole conversation, but he had something to do with the local armory. Said that they had troops getting deployed this morning, and said that there guy that usually plows is also getting deployed. Gentleman asked if there is anyway that I could have someone plow the lot, and gave me contact information for sending a bill.

Finished up the lot that I was doing, and headed over to the armory. Had about half of the armory done, and another guy with a plow truck shows up. Turns out this is the guy that is getting deployed this morning, and he finished up plowing with me. Stopped and introduced myself afterwards, gave him a business card, told him to tell the gentleman that I talked to this morning to have him call me if he needs anything, and there's no way that I could send them a bill. Ended up plowing it again the next day, and there is no way that I could send them a bill.

Kudos to anyone involved in this program. I hope they expand it to snow removal as well as green services.
