OK, my '95 Wrangler is having some distributor cap issues. For the longest time, we'd change it once a year and no problems. Last couple years we've gone through at least a couple a year. Going on #3 since October right now. They appear to crack and get moisture in them after a relatively short period of time compared to the first 10 years or so. Spray some moisture displacer on it and the problem goes away for the night. Replace the cap and it goes away for maybe a month. Lifetime warranty on the NAPA caps, but I could care less about the warranty at this point.

So does NAPA have crappy distributor caps and I should find a better brand or is there something else going on causing them to go bad.

Well on the crappy caps first doesnt matter wether you buy from Napa or Autovalue or were ever Standard Motor products bought out Eclin, Neioff, G/p Sorenson so your gonna get they same crappy cap anywere.
Wells ing parts really suck but there still on there own but suspect its because Standard probley feels it would be like marring a lesbian is why.

Head down and buy a Mopar cap from the dealer and be down with it while your at it get a set of mopar plug wires there like 60 bucks there for a 4.0 i suspect the problem isnt so much in your caps as it is in a wire thats tracking sending carbon tracks into the cap causing the track out issue anyway.

But your right the days of the Ehclin brass term cap are gone so get a factory cap and wires and call it soup....:wink

Mark, I'm with Fred here. We ran into a lot of cap problems since the buy out. Kinda like another merger we all know about. What once was great is now being cheapened up.

Go with the stock cap and like Fred said it's time for some wires and plugs too.

Thanks guys.

We'll do the wires right away too. Everything gets replaced annually so we don't have these issues.
