:rolleyes:I was wondering on the Boss Smart Lock Cylinders....My Vee doesn't stay very straightwhen back dragging, as well as pushing a lot of wet snow. I've considered about buying the cylinders as a replacement, but am concerned. The way my VEE is set up now, there is someplace to "give" My question is when the smart lock cylinders are installed, what "gives"? My theory is that something else will "give" and break. i.e. pins, wings, mount or worse. Please let me know what you guys think along with explanations...

The releif valve still works the same going forward, it's just when you back up they are solid. After having them with and without I'd never run a blade without them ever again.

I agree with Dave's assessment. We've owned 4 plows with the Smartlocks - only one grenaded on us - much better than par I feel. I have watched others backblade without them, and I couldn't imagine the frustration and inefficiency.

Put Smartlocks on, and the new style cutting edges if you don't already have them (with the rolled curb guards that also act as a side plate), and I'd estimate that you would improve your backblading efficiency by 30-40% if you like to give your customers a neat job.

As others have stated the smartlocks will not prevent the pressure relief from working in either direction. they will only prevent the wings from drifting forward while backdragging. if you snag something they will still have the pressure relief

if they are ordered on a new plow it is about a $250.00 upgrade and if you want to add them to an existing unit they are about 500 a set

Yes, and worth every penny. Actually, $500 a set seems very fair. In Canadian dollars, we replaced that one grenaded cylinder 3 or 4 years ago for slightly more than $500.

Bump on prices for this season. I haven't gotten a set yet, but might have access to a set for a reasonable amount.

Well thats pretty good because they list at 300 US each for 06+ models and 345 each for 05- Models and the price he gave you of 350 converts to 326.678 USD at todays exchange rate. that price is below dealers cost if it is truly for a set OR he may have had a plow box with smart locks and the customer did not want to pay the additional 200 so he swapped the smart locks for regular cylinders and is just looking to get his money out of them.

If you can get a SET for 350 canadian then jump on it.
