View Full Version : 2009 Jerre's ERIE GTG Dates
Chuck Smith

This year the GTG will be the weekend of April 25th. The 24th, 25th, and 26th. Jerre can post specifics. It will be here before you know it! And a BIG THANKS to J for opening his shop and home to all of us. And yes, all are invited, no special invitation necessary since I always get PMs asking every year.

I didnt' think of that. Dino if you want to though them on my trailer for the way up and we can get them in the fall. I should be able to fit 4 plows I have to bring my trailer. Let me know. I think I rather just leave them for the summer and have J get to them when he can. This way there isn't any rush.

thanks Matt - I'll probably end up driving though. I'll likely pull out @ 2300 Friday to arrive Sat by 0600 - I don't have the patience to drive during the day. Plus I'll just be getting back in to town that week, so I won't be able to leave before friday night anyway.

Matt,
You would have liked to seen the one that I passed on the way home. Was about 0530, and he must have been sleeping. Was in the median, had a little sports car pass me going well over 90MPH, and then went past the trooper. Trooper didn't even bat an eye, becuase I am pretty sure that they were both closed.

Sorry I don't have a "get outa jail free card in NY" ya just a few weeks ago I finally settled it. $150 plus a few points. :wink. I can't get caught speeding with a trailer full of plows this time can I?
The trip to Erie before I got pulled over at 2am doing 72 about 9 miles from my house. pulled out my GOFJF card and got away with it......maybe it was because I was "pulled over for speeding in a 55 zone but I was parked directly in front of a 65mph sign.........F'n CT I call it speed traps :headwall

From what I have been told, my "get out of jail freed card" won't work in Ohio. They will write anyone and everyone. That's why cruise control is set about 8MPH over the limit, and no more. See more troopers in Ohio than I have in any other state.

LMAO Fred - you know these comments could be misconstrued as being stereotypical.
I just checked with the wife - we have an abundance of sweet potatoes from last year's veggie garden. She'd be willing to pre-bake a few pies for the commemorative GTG feast!
I also saw a newswire story that there is a glutton of new construction on the North Lawn of the White House. Seems they're constructing a KFC drive-thru at a record setting pace!
I've booked that weekend off - but knowing that it doesn't mean a thing. I won't know until a few days before. Besides, I have a bucket to keep hostage.

I reserved at the I-90 Super 8. Stayed there 2 years ago, was decent. Forget the Red Roof, though Andy got lucky and got a room on the back side more than 10 feet from I-90. Like Fred said, the ones facing I-90 your bed may as well be in the ditch.
Travelodge wasn't up to snuff last year IMO. So Super 8 it is. Got it for $79.99 a night. Microtel used to be cheap, but the beds were like concrete.

I think there still aval in the Ditch suite and Concrete fourms ....:D
The year you dragged me out til 430 was the year we all blocked Microtel lets see i got in Friday afternoon at 3 that year we went to the lube til we closed that down then me and you checked out the finer points in the yoda til 430 am i do remember laying my head down til 530 am then drinking coffee with Alan N and Linda downstairs Saturday night we ate at long horns then harrassed the Cripsy creme guy til 145am i layed down again in that concrete bed til 330am and hit the road so honeslty that weekend i slept a total of 4hrs or less i could have just slept on the sidewalk with a pillow and blanky , i think that year i left my calling cards on a few windshields just to let you know how easy of a repo you could have been..:wink
Then came the Ditch suite everytime i would dose off i felt like i had a Jake brake being drove up my butt. I remember staying there again in oct with Todd, Chuck and if Chuck had gotton over the Ditch sounds when me and Todd rolled out at 4am i gave him 120psi of air horn before leaving:D
Andy D put me up one year at a place cant remember the name of the place but the beds were comfortable problem i had that year was i had to smuggle my dog brit in my travel bag to get in the room and make it understand for the first time in her life it was ok to piss on the floor because i couldnt take her out.
Last year were did we stay ? Todd payed for the room it was also a nice place no noise either.

Links for hotel rates from Matt Casinia.
The hotels didn't want to play on group rates. Travelocity and Expedia beat there rates.

When we were there in the fall we visited a wonderful site. We know that these particular "friends" would love a visit from far away travelers! The display is open to the public at the Erie Zoo. You can actually walk right up to them as long as they are not behind the chained in area!

I am still up in the air Matt. The way things were going I thought I wouldn't be back to work yet and would be able to go no problem. My start date @ Sikorsky is April 6th so the chances of me getting that Friday off are slim to none now.......

I have yet to decide. I may make a last minute decision. Val doesn't think she wants to go as she would prefer a warmer vacation to a warmer climate, rather than taking valuable time-off and $$$ to "go see some guys I met on the internet". She had fun last year, but given the choice, she'd rather have a beach and warm water.
Right now the way things are, I'm with her. I need some serious down-time.
If things fall right, I may blast out and back, but for now, I'm working and may not be able to get the time off. Hopefully it works out.

Roger my friend............................................ ......
YOU SUCK!
Have fun w/o us.:mad::p
Not in the cards for me either. The Boss Lady has an R&R scheduled begging April 20th and is flying back from the project she is working on in Africa and she wants us to go see her daughter in California that weekend so I am not going to be able to make it. I am bummed about it but I learned a long time ago that if Mamma aint happy aint nobody happy. I have become fond of being happy guys so this year is a no go. Last year her surgery while she was in Pueblo CO kept me back so I couldn't make it and now this. Sorry

I used to figure about 7 when I lived in Nutley. Now it is 402 miles door to door one way. Takes about 6.5 depending on stops. Alone I only make one to fuel up well outside of Erie. You don't want to buy fuel in Erie.

The older two are up to about 2 packs a day, my son is only good for about a pack right now, so I think so. :smoking If time allows I might make a tray of sausage & peppers to bring.
J/K Don't think they'll be at the shop long, and last I heard there is no smoking in your house or garage. :beatsme
