My 2 Western 7.5 Plows have alot of wear on the right side do to the amount of roads we plow and that they are arched pretty good. I was thinking about taking the blades off and flip them over so the meater side is on the right so I can get more wear before replacing. Do you see any problems with doing this? Will the holes line up? Also I would like to replace them next season with a blades with carbide or tungstun. Any one know where I can find them for a Western.

I've done the same thing with my old Diamond and now my Viking. The holes on those plows were symetric so it was no problem. A tape measure will tell you for sure.

You should be able to flip it around without any problems. It may take a little bit of plowing until the edge wears in,and starts to scrape well.

Flip them over Ray
Same hole pattern.
Get yourself some edge bolts so your ready in case you have trouble getting the old ones off.

Thanks guys. I will try flipping one over this weekend and see how it does before I switch the other one over. Does anyone know where I can find Carbide or tungstun blades to fit these plows for next season.

I never had one wear like that till I replaced an edge on a plow, and now there's nothing left on the passanger side and looks like the other side didn't wear at all.
Took me a while to realize I had it doing strickly roads.
Now I got the driver rotating which side of the street he goes down.

I dont have that luxery on most the roads I do they are 2 and 4 lane roads with traffic. We can't buck traffic. One road I plow I ussually run 40 to 45 mph or I will get run over.

Try a heavy equipment dealer for a carbide edge.We buy them from the local road grader dealer. They are 5/8" thick, and they have a punch to match them to the bolt pattern. It will take a long time to wear one of those edges out.

Okay MdsnowPro this is where you get me in trouble with some of these guys. I am not sold on them, Like how some arent sold on Blizzard plows. I have seen pictures of some of the lots and roads plowed with Uedge and I am not inpressed. I want bare pavement and it dont look like I will get it with U edge. I like steel, love the noise and sparks. Just call me old fashioned. Not too old fashioned not to want a new Blizzard.
