From what i understand, FWD corp never went out of business, they had aquired seagrave fire apparatus and basically concentrated on that, discontinuing thier other trucks. Their still in the same location.

Awhile ago i called them to do some research on my FWD, for $50, they sent me the operators/maintenance book for my truck with all the specs of the truck. They also told me about that snowdozer they were building.

Good stuff!

that is a nice snow blower any other pics of the inside and specs?

so are they going to start making any trucks like the one you have Paul? or is that snowdozer the only one

Alan you would probably have more insight than me...

I forgot about the Seagrave connection. They are probably in an a panic over New York City possibly getting away from Seagrave.. I know that the recent deliveries have been problem plagued....

Then again, maybe they will build a stainless Snow fighter type truck (the bodies on the NYC truck I believe are stainless)..

I hadn't thought of the Seagrave connection. Buddy of mine is a big E-One dealer, I'll quiz him on their intentions with Seagrave/FWD.

It's good to see them in production again.

I wish Oshkosh or FWD would build a 1 ton or two ton size truck. Then we'd have a plow truck that would handle the job.

I wonder what a new MPT (Municipal Patrol Truck) runs...

The state has been buying just a few Oshkosh, Most of the new 4x4 and 6x6s have been paystars.. They also don't double wing anything. The new oshkoshs I have seen have all been for specific mountain passes. They do pony up for the 4 wheel steer though. You can see how much they use it on the tires, all of the inside edges are worn off from turning into the banks.

I helped a friend who manages a sub division spec out a Paystar with 23k front axle and a 23k rear. By the time everything heavy duty was added up it was pushing $200,000 with out upfit, they about panicked when we mentioned double wings. He really want to push the banks back downhill no matter what side of the road he was on. I can't imagine we were very far from an Oshkosh.

If the Oshkosh is that much more, I can see why governments are getting away from new ones... Hard to justify 250k for an upfitted plow truck

That $250,000 Oshkosh will outlast a Freight shaker or IH costing $150,000. And at the end of it's 15 or 20 year lifespan it can be sent out for a full rehab at Oshkosh for $100,000 or so and come back for another 10-15 years or more. Try that with a Sterling.:p

Our County bought an Oshkosh 4 or 5 years ago and I guess it will be the last one. The price tag on it was $250,000, they decided they will buy regular commercial trucks. The town I sub to uses 4x4 IH trucks, they are constantly 2 or 3 trucks down per storm.

I am guessing that a fully set up P series is pushing 300k. If the bare chassis is $245k with 4 wheel steering. Probably pretty easy to spend 50k on plows/body/hydros/spreader.

that is a more realistic type truck to bad it still cost way more than the average guy could aford but it looks like it would be alot nicer to drive than the bigger counter part.

you think that they would build something like the scout you could not kill those trucks i know my cousin had one and used it to plow . the only thing is it would rot lol. now that one in the pic above is really not to far off just beefier you think that they would be aming for the working guy with that line up I would consider it if it did not cost so much

I think there mistake was adding DVD players, playstations, couch like leather....

But on the other hand, anyone can walk into a International dealer and spec out a lo pro 4200 4x4 if they wanted...

Yeah, if they didn't want 60K just to talk to you about a truck.....
