I'm not a Blizzard dealer, but a few years back I received a phone call. This gentleman had a Blizzard 810 on his Dodge truck that was a lease truck he had to turn in. He wanted it taken off that truck, and put on his 1998 Dodge 2500 truck. The dealer who sold him the plow had gone out of business, and nobody in the Detroit area wanted to touch it. I told him I would do it. I transfered it to his 98 Dodge back in 2001? I believe it was. Then this past spring, I get a call saying he sold his 2500, but was buying a 2003 3500 Dodge Diesel crew cab and wanted to switch the plow over to that. I told him to make sure it would'nt void his warranty with Dodge, salesman said it was allright, so I did it. Well, since it was flaking he decided he wanted to repaint it. I did'nt want to because I was worried about the paint flaking off over the powder coat. So I told him why don't we re-powder coat it. well, I took it totally apart, and sent it to the strippers to get the powdercoat "baked off". Then we shipped the bare plow to the powdercoaters, where they e-coated it after etching it, then powder coated it red. I had to cut every pin out off this plow with a saws-all. I also had to weld new tubes to the wings because the pins were rusted in, would'nt even come out with heat and a press:headwall 2 feet of tube was $59.00!!! Anyways, it all went back together back in early Dec. of 2003. The plow is a 2000 model year 810. He had a 1999 model with all sorts of problems. Blizzard paid for him to go to the U.P. of Michigan, and Brian from Blizzard hung a new plow on his truck on a Saturday. So I guess Blizzard really stands behind their product. It has at least 6 plow events on it now and performs flawlessly with the new cutting edges. He does a lot of commercial work with it, he averages 12 hours of commercial per event, not counting his residential. Take Pelicans advice, and make sure you use a lot of anti-sieze if you ever re-assemble one of these. I gooped it on everything. We also did his Western salt spreader, that is why the blade is red, to match his salt spreader. I probably would of done it in silver myself. I have some other pictures if anyones interested. Everyone thinks it's some prototype Western plow, since we're a western dealer. There's only 3 known Blizzards in our area, so a lot of guys don't know what it is. We will see how long the finish will last this time. oh, by the way, I re-assembeled it back with all the original cylinders and hoses, and not one leak. We used Amsoil ATF Fluid, and when all the other guys in our area were freezing up earlier this year when we had our long cold snap, not a problem at all with the Blizzard. Allthough I no longer plow snow, this plow is impressive, and would seriously consider buying one if I was still a contractor(probably would be if I did'nt need a hip replacement:( Hope you guys enjoyed the RED BLIZZARD as we call it around the shop (well, it is red, and it is a blizzard!!!) HMMM, someone here has a YELLOW one, (8611), but won't let me post a pic of it !
I told him it looks like a Fishzaard or a Blizsher.
It matches his fleet of Fishers, but it does look strange....

Nice job.I was thinking of doing the same thing if we go Blizzard next year to disguise them,so the competition doesn't know what we are using.I love making them wonder. :D

I've got a lime green 8611 running down here. I'll pop the picts of the digital as soon as I get a chance.
That red looks good on there. Now for a set of stickers to set it off.
P.s. next time order a set of bushings for the wings. Much better price than $59.00.

Hi Guys!! Been away from the board for a week or so. Been really busy.
Lazer Man, the owner has aprox. $2500.00 into redoing this plow, plus some labor we swapped. Baking off the original powdercoat, and stripping the plow, wings, plow boxes, a-frame, and quadrant (oh, and trip springs) cost $500.00. This also covered stripping his western tailgate spreader frame and brackets. It cost about $1700.00 to Powdercoat and E-coat all of the above components. They have gone through a 12 step process where the metal was dipped and acid etched, and a rust prohibitive coating put on befor the powder coat was baked on. It is about 5 mills thick. We replaced all the bolts, pins, and hardware on the plow, and the cutting edges. That was about another $300.00 total, plus my labot to strip it down, re-assemble it, paint the cutting edge and angle cylinders, and bleed the hydraulics. We also replaced the 2-way switch that connects and dis-connects the plow. The new coating is not affected by U.V rays. Funny how nice the coating was under the stickers!:D This was the first plow they have done with this process, we'll see how well it stands up.
Jerre, the owner does'nt want to put any stickers back on the plow. I kinda like it without stickers myself. Did you paint the lime green one, and if you did, was it just a scuff and squirt???
Thanks everyone for the positive comments. The pictures really don't do it justice.

LAZER, The customere did a scuff and spray on the unit. Wanted to power coat it but for him was cost prohibitive. I suggested a better base and paint but he just auto grade shot it. I noticed the same thing about the powder coat under the stickers on some I replace stickers on. I'll put the note on the U.V. to the factory, Thanks Jerre
