Looks to be in real good shape.

It's had a recent Dupont restoration. If you look closely there's a lot of pitting on the body and overspray on the truck frame. The 3208 is not a strong engine and was very problematic. I'd want to look it over real closely.

Yup, Steve is right. The 3208 was a dog in the L8000's. I ran 2 different ones, a '86 and an '88. Learned to plow in an '88 with turbo, but the 5 &2 was a hard shifter, especially down into 2 nd gear on the hills. Had to hit 2nd. on every hill around here and it was a pita to get into when loaded.
That, and the clutch bushings on those were bronze and would wear-out. As you shifted on a hill the chassis would rack and the linkage to the clutch would come apart. What a royal pita to get back together. I think even the '93 ? that the dpw later got had the same issue. Ford made a nice frame and a stout truck, but the truck had a lot of minor issues that made it a questionable plow truck. Not to mention the damn defrost and the window icing. Hated them for that.

The town here has an L8000 with the converted 4X4, they leave it hitched up year round and only get it out during big storms, it will self destruct if not treated with kid gloves.

The problem with Frord truck over F800s is Sterling is only going to supply parts for 3 more years. Sterling parts will be around for 10 more years. Again this is only OEM parts, ie cab, body, electrical ect.

My experience is that the 3208 is pretty reliable but kind of a dog. I think the NA versions were 175 hp.
Does the truck have a two speed rear? 4wd would preclude that I would think but it looks like an electric shift 2spd switch on the shifter.
