My front drive-shaft is squeaking in 4x4. When this first happened the dealer replaced the drive-shaft, because a little (Janet Jackson appendage) had broken off, and the cartington (sic?) joint couldn't be replaced. So Chris and/or John can the double joint be replaced, and is this little T replaceable, or what should I do to service it?

Any driveshaft shop could rebuild it and put in new joints, or build you a new one and keep you old as a spare. A complete new one should be less than $300US

Just had both of mine redone in my fords. $500 for the two of them. It sounded like i had crickets in the cab everytime 4WD was engaged

It's probably just the u-joints.When I did my front shaft, the u-joints were toast, but the ball stud and bearings were mint. That was at 350,000 K.The ball stud is not replaceable if damaged, you need a new yoke. The u-joints are a little more difficult in the double cardan joint,so you might want to take it to a shop to have it done.

If it is that bad,you can get complete HD new ones for under $300 US. http://www.dennysdriveshaft.com/html/4x4_off_road.html
