What is the difference in the Boss 11 pin harness and the 13 Pin?
I may have done something very silly.
I bought a used 8.5 straight blade with 13 pin connection. This will go on our other truck which I will need the mount, wires controller for.
I thought my truck had 13 pin but it was only 11. (older setup with toggle for lights)
To get the plow home I found where the two pins on the plow side met the plastic on the truck side. My thought was the extra pins where for V plow.
What may have I messed up?
Take a look at the wiring diagrams on the Boss site under manuals and look at the 11 and 13 pin configuration and you can see the differences.
All Boss plows now come with 13 pin plugs so that any Boss plow either straight or V (not sport duty) will work on a single truck by just changing the controler in the cab.

You can run the plow off your 11 pin harness, smart hitch more then likely wouldn't function the same if I remember. Just drill two holes into the rubber of the plug on the truck side so you can plug the connector in if you haven't done so already.
 John...

I know the 11 pin has the DPDT toggle swith for head lights.
The 13 pin has relays and one simple swithc for lights
Thinking back I really should have drilled out my rubber in the 11 pin harness instead of taking off the pins on the plow side 13 pin harness. I guess I will will look for 13 pin harness repair end.

Yes. Never buy a used plow after dark. I thought for sure it would be a simple hook up and go. Not my luck.

I believe Boss sells a kit to cure this. I know they have one for a 13 pin blade to a 11 pin truck but you have to cut the plug off & put the new plug on. I would call your Boss dealer & ask.
The best cure is to change the harness. Then you will have the ability to upgrade to the new smart light 2 dual burn headlights in the future.

I will end up replacing the the plow side harness.
I take it that:
MSC08881
WIRING HARNESS,13 PIN,PLOW SIDE,08+
Is for the new lights?
MSC04317
WIRING HARNESS,13 PIN,PLOW SIDE
is the standard light set?
08+ is for the new dual burn
