View Full Version : No Left Angle?

I have been having some problems with the plow the past few storms. Occasionally, but not all of the time, the plow will not angle left. It does not make any sounds, which makes me think it has to do with the electrical system.

The connectors seem to be ok, but i'm not sure how to tell...all of the pins look fine and there is plenty of dielectric greaseon the connections.

Maybe the controller?

Any other ideas?

Plow is a western unimount 7.5' pro plow.

Thanks

Does the motor run? If it is running is there a high pitch noise? If so the screen on the pump is probabbly dirty.Or it may be the solonoid or joystick.

GLS I'm having the same promblem on my 7.5 pro western unimount. When I try to angle left sometimes not all the time the plow will not angle left. The motor does not run no screaking noise just dead. Then after a few attempts it goes.

I'm going to test it with a different joystick, and change the solinoid under the hood. Just as suggested by the last reply did'nt get his name.

Anyone may have any other suggestions.

Walt - Motor is not running. No whines or anything.

billy - I wouldn't think it is the solinoid because I can still lift/right angle the blade. Let me know if the controllor fixes it.

Ryan-
It sounds almost like maybe a cartridge vavle is sticking, but since the motor doesn't run, I'm going to say probably not likely.

Does the harness have power to the left angle 'pin' when you click that direction? I'm sot sure which it is, but you can find it in the service manual, available on Western's website.

I had a similar problem, turned out be a bad ground in the harness, so all the catrige valves were grouding through themselves, opening them, the plow didn't know what to do, just something else to check!

Good luck!

Check to see you are getting power to the coils.

Get the book out or download it from their site for which pair is left angle.

Can't be cartrage if not getting power.

Also might be your controller.

Atleast 2 things happen when you make it move but down, controller send signal to pump, and coil(s).

May I ask how can the valves ground, they move by a magnetic field? The coils don't gound they don't magnatize.

If he's getting lift and right, then he's got a ground, and all 3 coils use the same ground wire.

Sounds to me the connection in the harness is worn. Specially since it's spuratic.

My best guess is the controller. I almost never see bad controllers
most people replace them because of stupid stuff ( ran them over,
mounted them with one big screw in the middle)
Have someone hold the controller in angle and you wiggle plug, if that doesnt help I would say controller, Also check plug at the end of the controller, make sure one of the pins didnt come loose.
