Hey guys I think it is time I have looked at all my sites and it looks like it will just be rain from here on out, I think its time to pu the plow up and start sharpening all me lawnmower blades. If you know of something that I dont please do tell!
Well the first problem with your theory is, you are in the Mid Atlantic, not the Northeast. ;) So snow work will certainly be tough to come by in your area at this point, with the current weather pattern that has set up (and here too, except for salting at least). But the people in the Northeast can probably hold off a little longer on sharpening the blades. I'm gonna keep doing my snow dance though, I just can't give up yet. :nodd

It has just turned to sleet/freezing rain here with 3-4" on the ground.
Will be pushing soon.
Winter over???? FAR from it.
In the last 10yrs,I've pushed about 10" on St Pats day and a1ft on April 1st !
Lots of time left, we normally get our BIG Nor'easters between now and the first 2 weeks of March.
Have Fun.

Bobs right - chances are we will get hit with a big at least once more. It has not been that great of a season but Feb is the month for snow. I do remember the April 1st "April Fools Day" storm:)

Yep! Looks like rain. Hopefully we will have one more last snowfall down here in southern Jersey to finish the year. My load of rock salt should be here just in time for spring, lol.

Over Yet NOT.
93-94 2nd highest snowfall year . 84" season avg. 40"
Most of the snow fell from NOW till the end of March.
It seemed like it snowed every Wednesday & Sat.
With a few larger storms and a lot of 5-6"ers.
It was almost non-stop plowing.
Looks like a calm week, look over the equipment, and relax,
It will come , I'll talk to SnowplowJay, maybe even take him to
Hooters!!!!:D

Over ????????? I think not !!!!
don't you remember the President's Day Blizzard of 2003?
CT and most of NE got hit pretty good !
There is still a lot of potential for the rest of the winter. alot can happen over the next 40- 50 days.
Late Feb and early March produces some of the biggest snowstorms.

We're coming up on the 1 year anniversary of the biggest storm of the century. I think I'll keep my plows ready for a while.

We have to wait until December 5-6 2004 for our anniversary :)
I expect to have a snow threat for at least another 6-7 weeks.

WOW Feb 8th and thinking of summer???
Heck my mowers are stored away and not much hope of even getting them out for now, unless I really want to beat on the plow to make a path through 20" (not including drifts) of snow.
In my book the latest I have plowed was March 25&26th so I will keep the plow on for a bit longer.:D ;)

crafty,
You guys got screwed so far this winter in the lower part of the state. I still want more but i'm happy to have had 5 plowable events and 6 salt runs so far. Hopefully you will get a couple more this year. So far my area has a total of 22 inches for the winter. Hey I can remember plowing right before I rolled out of here to head to bike week. so there is still a chance of snow in March around here.
Think Snow

I hope it's not over. Not only are we only 1/2 way to the seasonal snowfall, but I just picked up another account today. What's ironic is that I had considered stopping my advertising, thinking there wouldn't be any potential business left. I hadn't called to renew, so the advertising dept called me and I decided to go to the end of February. Elderly lady called saying she was unhappy with her service. They had plowed in the middle of the storm but hadn't come back even though she'd called. She told them not to come back and I've got an appointment with her tomorrow.:D

F.Y.I.
As Far as the national weather service is concerned Delaware is considered the northeast.
Ray
I have always seen NJ & PA referenced as part of the Mid Atlantic, so that's why I said DE is also. A quick search showed these 2 NWS references to the Mid Atlantic that include Delaware in that region. Where did you see the NWS include DE in the NE?

This is getting ridiculous , nervous - LOL We need some nicely spaced snow events :D
Delaware shown as part of Northeast:

OK Mick, I have never heard of Ohio & West Virginia being part of the Mid Atlantic States lol. I think an intern from some not so good remote college put that one together for the NWS one day while nursing a hangover :grinz Here is the map that link refers to.
Now here is what I remember learning in school as the Mid-Atlantic states. Although I thought Virginia was supposed to be in there?

Hey BRL, just busting your chops:grinz . I couldn't resist when I came up with that from the second link you posted. I agree with Bill, I need some snow. When we're trying to figure out if Delware is part of the NE or the Mid Atlantic (Mid West maybe?), things are getting a little slack.

Heck fella's stop ;argue , there are times that Connecticut isn't considered part of the " Northeast" or for that matter "New England" either
I have always considered NJ and Delaware as part of the Mid-Atlantic... But what does my opinion count!:headwall :grinz

LOL,
Reading all these responses gave me a good laugh this morning. Curtis all my snow total reports from noa say northeast. Also I am told by a co-worker that farmers almanac put us in the northeast. I dont care what group we are in just as long as it includes more snow for this season.

I am starting to feel like the maytag repair man .I need some snow to plow
"What this adds up to is a result with a rather narrow swath of significant snow, occuring well inland, and predominantly across the Mid-Atlantic."
Here's a quote from Gary Gray's latest post about a potential event for mid next week. JustUs, bet you'd like to join us, PA, & NY in the Mid-Atlantic now, instead of jumping north over us to be a part of the North East, eh??
;) :p :grinz
"there are times that Connecticut isn't considered part of the " Northeast" or for that matter "New England" either"
Umm Jeff,
Ct isn't usually even considered part of the United States by those of us who don't live there. So maybe that's why you don't see people including it in those regions of the country? :zoinks :beatsme

... POTENTIAL NOR'EASTER LATE TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY... ... A RETURN TO COLDER THAN NORMAL TEMPERATURES IN THE INTERIM...
COMPUTER GUIDANCE CONTINUES TO INDICATE THE POSSIBILITY OF A SIGNIFICANT SNOW EVENT FOR MUCH OF THE NORTHERN DELMARVA AS WELL AS SOUTHEASTERN PORTIONS OF NEW JERSEY BEGINNING AS EARLY AS LATE TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND LASTING INTO THE FIRST PART OF WEDNESDAY. SEVERAL COMPUTER MODELS SUGGEST THAT LOW PRESSURE WILL DEVELOP ALONG THE CAROLINA COAST ON TUESDAY AND TRACK NORTHEAST TO A LOCATION OFF THE NORTHERN MID ATLANTIC COAST ON WEDNESDAY. AS A RESULT OF AN ARCTIC AIRMASS THAT WILL BE IN PLACE OVER MUCH OF THE REGION, MOST OF THE PRECIPITATION ASSOCIATED WITH THE LOW, IF NOT ALL, IS EXPECTED TO BE IN THE FORM OF SNOW.
WITH THE POSSIBLE NOR'EASTER STILL THREE DAYS AWAY, NOT ALL COMPUTER MODELS ARE IN AGREEMENT PERTAINING TO THE TRACK AND STRENGTH OF THE SYSTEM AS WELL AS HOW FAR NORTH AND WEST, AWAY FROM THE COAST, THE PRECIPITATION WILL FALL. AS OF EARLY SUNDAY MORNING, IT APPEARED THAT THE GREATEST AMOUNT OF SNOWFALL WOULD FALL SOUTH AND EAST OF THE PHILADELPHIA METROPOLITAN AREA.
ANOTHER POSSIBLE CONCERN FOR THE WEDNESDAY TIME FRAME IS TIDAL FLOODING. AT THE MOMENT, IT DOESN'T APPEAR THE AREA OF LOW PRESSURE WILL BE EXTREMELY STRONG AS IT PASSES THE COASTLINES OF DELAWARE AND NEW JERSEY. BUT, WITH THE NEW MOON OCCURRING ON FRIDAY, ASTRONOMICAL TIDES WILL BE RUNNING HIGH. THUS, DEPENDING UPON THE EXACT TRACK AND TIMING OF THIS SYSTEM, SOME TIDAL FLOODING AND BEACH EROSION MAY OCCUR.
WITH A FAIR DEGREE OF UNCERTAINTY REGARDING THIS SYSTEM, CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS IN THE EVENT THAT A SIGNIFICANT STORM DOES ULTIMATELY DEVELOP.
THE COLD AIR THAT THIS SYSTEM WOULD ACT UPON, UNLIKE THE SYSTEM ITSELF, IS A CERTAINTY. IN FACT, YOU'LL NOTICE THE CHANGE IN AIRMASS WHEN YOU STEP OUTSIDE TODAY. DAYTIME TEMPERATURES WILL AVERAGE ABOUT 15 DEGREES COLDER THAN ON SATURDAY. WIND CHILL VALUES WILL FALL BELOW ZERO IN NORTHEAST PENNSYLVANIA AND NORTHWEST NEW JERSEY AND DROP TO THE SINGLE DIGITS AND TEENS ELSEWHERE. BRISK NORTH WINDS WILL CONTINUE TO REINFORCE THE ARCTIC AIR TONIGHT AND AT THE SAME TIME PUSH WIND CHILL VALUES TO BELOW ZERO THROUGHOUT THE REGION. WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO DIMINISH LATER TONIGHT....
No sense of adventure Jeff!! :burnout :shades

Crafty,
You might want to get your plow back out of the shed. Looks like you got a better chance than I do for a good event.

We've plowed 4 storms here. This is getting ridiculous.
A few years back when I was plowing for the town we plowed or sanded 9 months of the year. We often see snow here in every month but June July and August.
The only good thing is the ice fishing. Sebago lake has 14+ inches of ice, the ice shack is out and the big derby is comming! The fish aren't biting much, but the beer stays cold in this weather!
