Hooked up my western plow a week ago and got it all ready to go. The only problem is it wont move. I can hear the motor running its just the hydralics dont go. I think i need to rebuild the pump and was just wondering if anyone had some suggestions or where i could get the stuff that i needed. Thanks for your time. Its a western unimount 7'6" pro plow

before you condem the pump, start with the basics. does the unit have oil in it? pumps dont usually go bad from sitting over the summer.

does the motor run freely, or does in make a high pitched squeal also?, like the pump pressure is dead heading?

Check your plugs where the the truckside and plow harness meet. Also like Paul metioned check your oil level, and do a yearly service on it as well. Just be careful around the plow if you have a helper workin with you. Also try your other vehicle with the unimount and see if its just the one truck. Perhaps your controller is bad.. You have 2 unimounts, so it should be a fairly easy job to get it goin.

HIG.........You hear the unit running when you operate
the controls and nothing happens?
If you have checked the fluid level and its full and
also checked all connections also heres a thought
before you pull you hair out or spend cash at the repair
shop on a easy fix:

I would pull off the fluid resevoir or take off the motor and
eyeball for the fluid pickup hose being unhooked.
Western has had a issue with some Ultra units (being cheap
and eliminating a clamp to hold the pickup hose and filter on)
and the fluid pickup hose and filter just falls off and drops to
the bottom of resevoir !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure if a uni is the same as a ultra but its worth a
looksee!

thanks guys for the info. Checked the oil and everything and actually took it off the plow this weekend and pulled the whole thing apart. Everything looks pretty good so i gave it a pretty good cleaning and then put it together the same way i took it apart. Put it back on the plow and plugged it in. Same thing except this time when i went to angle the plow left it blew a hole in the line. Still not moving up and down either. I will keep trying some stuff but the advice is great so please keep it coming.

if the hose burst because of pressure, id say your pump is good .

Change the hose, then see what happens. Did you swap plows and trucks like snowjoker suggested, to see whats what?

bad controller.they suck. you can buy a new pc board for about half the price and its just plug-n-play.

yeah i swapped plows and trucks and it something on the plow because the truck works on the other plow and the other truck does the same thing with the plow. I order new hoses and connectors so will see what happens when that comes in but was just curious do you think it could be the three solenoid relays that tell the fluid where to go. I thought that it could be these but dont know how to test them.
