I bought a DeWalt Air compressor off Amazon.com this past spring. Its a 30 gallon tank electric wheelbarrow style....factory reconditioned unit. Recently its been taking ALOT longer for the tank to fill both on initial startup, and when it needs to refill during use. Does anyone have any insight as to where I might start checking? I checked the obvious things that came to my mind.... belt is properly tensioned, pump oil level is ok and doesn't seem burned or anything, no obstruction in the line from the pump to the tank. In my mind it almost has to be a blown ring on the piston in the pump then? Any help is appreciated.... and excuse the laymen's terms...:D

The first thing I would check for is a bad check valve . When the unit pumps up and shuts off , does air leak out of the unloader ? Till it re-starts ? , if so the check valve is bad . Next , is the pilot valve cycling ok ? if constant run ?
The rings don't break or wear out that often on the pump ,( if they did , you would have oil everywhere ) the valves usually get weak , carbon up , or break first .
(Early DeWalt's were made by De Vilbiss of Tn. , the newer ones are by Emglo ( Pumps were/are Jenny Products of Pa.) )
What is Your Model # ? a D55170 ?
If it is , a Valve Rebuild kit is under $50.00 Bob
Hope I was able to help , kind of flying blind without seeing or hearing it run .

make sure the tanks are empty...over time they will fill with water from all the cycles......shouldnt happen this fast but would check to rule it out

thanks for the responses guys... i do drain the tank on a regular basis, so that's not the problem. I haven't had time to look into this closer, but hope to soon. Thanks again.
