Was going through my phone deleting photos and found a few I thought I would post.

The snapper almost went swimming last fall. Retention pond is slick clay. Employee got a little too brave.

Got to borrow this little fella while speading mulch this spring. Construction manager was nice enough to let us use it for a few days at a big mulch job. Made quick work of the pile to say the least.

810 works great in the off-season. We've got a big cleanup across the street from our farm. We plow up the driveway, across the street and deposit the leaves in the orchard. Had a neighbor start hollering at me for making such a mess with the leaves blowing all over and putting leaves in the "farmer's" orchard (our property). His home is about a halfmile away down a private rd. on the water yet he was afraid they might blow down there. He has been a nuisance for a while. I told him to relax and that it's our property that the leaves are going! It's Kroupa Rd for cripes sake. :D

Been there with a Walker a few times. You're screwed going forward, but some skill in reverse usually gets you out.

The only thing more fun is getting a walk behind caught in a chain link fence running across the bottom of a hill. Been there.... once. :o

We did everything we could to drive that snapper out of there but it kept sliding farther down. About one foot of water in the bottom. Enough to waterlog a blade spindle. The year previous our JD 48 WB sunk in the retention pond to the south of this one. :( I was mowing, minding my own business when one of the guys ran up to me out of breath and barefoot lol. We wrestled it out by hand, greased it and never skipped a beat.

This happened yesterday while doing a cleanup. Same employee. Thought our 52" would make a good beach chair. Just need a Corona and lady friend.:D

Not even gonna ask on that one... Some guys are better suited working the blowers than the mowers...

Mackinac sounds like a good time. Never enjoyed the nightlife there since usually on a school field trip or family outing. Have fun with the natives lol.

Since you mentioned the brake locking, it reminded me of another thing that happened to me the same summer I got the Bobcat walk behind stuck on the fence.... Back then, there were no safety devices. You could walk away from the machine with the blades running. I was mowing along a bed at the town pool, and there was a piece of garbage on the grond, in the bed. So I stopped, locked the brakes, and turned to pick it up. The left brake popped on its own, and the machine made a half turn through the bed before I grabbed the handles. There were chopped up Marigolds, Begonias and Dusty Millers all over the walk, LOL. I was mad at the time, but it was pretty funny. Never left the blades on again after that!

I gotta say that I hated when safety devices started coming on the machines. I used to get off the Toro with the blades running to pick up garbage all the time. I hated the new one with the safety on the seat.

When I had my own landscaping business, I loved safety devices on walk behinds. The problem was, telling new employees to just "let go" if the machine was getting away from them never seemed to sink in. Even after showing them you can let go. Watched a few new guys get dragged around. One went off a belgian block curb with the blades running into the road, by the time I caught him and told him to let go he almost made it to the curb on the other side of the street. Needless to say that was his last day.

I disconnected the switch from the bottom of the seat on my Walkers. Pain in the butt if you just had to hop of the seat for a second to grab something; and the machine's not going anywhere if you pull back the ground speed lever -- especially not going anywhere if you put on the parking brake.
