I get sick to my stomach just thinking about it. I've never used one that big, but I'm wondering how that might have happened. I'm thinking he was feeding it and got too close to the inlet, maybe got his clothes caught on the branches?

I don't undestand how a guy "falls" into a chipper. You would have to be dragged in. I heard of a guy in Wisconsin that hung from the safety bar and with both legs tried kicking in some jammed branches. Feet got caught and he got run right through it.

Arboristsite.com has a section on fatalties and injuries and this has happend several times. You have to remember these things chop up 4 and 5 inch branches at several feet per min. Operator error, lose clothing, not paying attention can all contibute to this horrible accident. These things are more dangerous than they appear. I hope the poor person didnt suffer very long...:(
