My SIL came over, for dinner, last night. She went to leave and her 95 Eagle Vision wouldn't stay running. It starts fine and runs smooth, for anywhere fome 20 seconds up to 1 minute or so then stumbles and dies. After crncking for a bit it will start but only briefly. I tend to think it's a fuel problem.I don't have the time or room in the shop to drop the tank and change the pump (if thats what it is). Any ideas or thoughts on some simple checks/test to narrow this down would be a great help.

Thanx

I would check the fuel filter, start with the easy stuff.

Will the car stay running if you keep your foot on the gas ?

Our 99 S-10 was doing the same thing, would start, idle, sometimes rough, put the throttle to it it would die. Changed the filter, same symptoms, it was the fuel pump. New pump now runs great. Can you hear the pump come on if you put the key in run position. Not sure about your vehicle, on the GM's the pump comes on and runs for a couple of seconds.

don't need to drop the tank.
Access door in the trunk.

Could be losing a cam or crank signal.

is it a 3.3 or a 3.5

I can hear the pump come on. and idle or 3K it does not matter so I figure it's the pump.

It is the esi if that matters. I'll look to see what size it is in the AM

Alot of poss with little info, like Mike said could be cam or crank loss signal, on older LH cars LOTS of green rot wiring issues to ASD and Fuel pump relay.

Hearing a pump run doesnt help much they can run with 10psi or 40psi which is spec for that car a fuel gauge is needed really.

I suppose with a mim of tools at your handy you could see if it stays running with carb cleaner that would inforce a fuel problem but still could have either relay unlatching. Honestly it sounds like it running threw the prime mode of the relay then shutting off so JMHO i would let someone with test equipment check it before you start throwing 300 dollar fuel pump at it.

Absolutely

got to see what info the PCM is really getting.

There are fuel pressure taps on both engines so a fuel pressure gauge would help answer a lot of questions.

Thanks for the info guys. With all the variables I will trailer it to the garage or back to her house this weekend. No room for it to sit here.
