My Transmission is on its way out. Torque converter shudder is getting pretty bad, and 2nd gear isn't worth anthing, just lots of slipping. With a full blade of snow, I have to drop it into first gear in order to have any power.
I know very little about transmissions. Does it sound cooked to you guys? Also how much can I expect to pay for a rebuild? When looking for a shop, anything to look for? I understand you get what you pay for, so I definetely wont be going for the cheapest price.
Thanks for your help.

Matt,
If you are looking for just about the best tranny out there, give Brian a call at Brians Truck Shop (http://www.brianstruckshop.com/) :D
The difference in plowing between a stock one and his is Night and Day!!!
A Reman is going to cost anywhere from $2000-$2800. Brian will make it bullit proof for around $3400.
Brian is in Arkansa but will ship you one if you can't drive there:D

I put an E4OD in my 2 wheel drive last summer. I think it was around $1900.00 installed and this was my price at the place I worked. It is a crappy rebuild, just seems weaker than the tranny that was in it. It won't pull in overdrive like the stock unit. I am just not satisfied with it.
If you plan to keep the truck and plow with it, take Dockboys advise. If not put in a junkyard tranny and sell it.
Good luck,

Ditto Dockboy's advice. I had an E4OD let go myself, I got it fixed and sold the truck immediately! If you plan on keeping the truck, spring for Brian's tranny.

Thanks for the advise guys. I think I may fix it and get rid of it in the spring. I bought it last year, and its been nothing but a money pit. She was rode hard and put away wet. Before I acquired it, it belonged to an apartment complex, so we all know, it was beat to death. I guess I cant complain, I got it VERY cheap, and it's paid for itself about 3 times over now.
Happy Plowing :D
