Anyone use RedMax Handheld equipment? Just looking to get some input on this equipment.

Right now, I run all Stihl trimmers and edgers and Echo blowers. Overall I am happy with I've got but its time to give something else a try.

I have (3) 7001 blowers that I am more than pleased with. All of them are old and have been run hard - they keep on going. One has been shortblocked, and one has had the recoil rope replaced. Aside from that, they have been maintenance free. My exmark dealer, who I am terribly loyal to, is a big Stihl dealer and because of that, I am going to be switching everything over to Stihl when it dies.

Two years back, I purchased two Shindaiwa t231 trimmers and with great disappointment, they are both now in for a complete rebuild. They are supposed to last nearly forever but neither of mine have lived up to that expectation. In short, I wouldnt but them again.

I have had a red max back pack blower for about 5 years now and it's great. I have been wanting to put two more of these on as well. I haven't used any of there other products but would definatly look at them as high quality. I also need some new line trimmers this year and will look at them.

I have two echo string trimmers and one Redmax ... nobody wants to touch the echos anymore. The redmax has tons of power and hasnt given me any problems, i love it

I've had their BP blowers. Very good, but the Echo is more powerful but also heavier. If you wear them properly this isn't an issue, just most of my guys couldn't figure that out so they preferred the RedMax's.

I've been slowly switching to Stihl trimmers and edgers and have been very happy with them. THink I had a RedMax trimmer and it worked great as well.

Never had a red max no dealer sells them around here. But I have lots of echo
4, 2400 4, 2100 3, 260 2, 210 seems to me the 2100 and 2400 hold up better then the newer models. I have three set of echo hedge trimmers but can't think of the model number of them. No problems with them. Blowers all stihl can't find anything right now that is as light and blows as much wind.

I ran the RedMax backpack blowers from about 2001 until this past year. The 7000/7001 were decent and when the 8000 models came out in '04, I was excited and bought three of them. They turned out to be complete turds. Very poorly built, the recoils didn't last, mufflers rattled off, and they basically fell apart. Even my dealer stopped selling them. Late 2005 I went back to buying Echo blowers, the 750/755 (I believe) and I have been very happy, they have been reliable and more durable than any blower I have had. I will keep buying them. I was able to keep one RedMax running using parts cannibalized from my large RedMax graveyard until it died this past fall. I happily gave it to my brother for him to use for target practice with his Mossberg:D
As for other two cycle equipment, I like the Echo hedge trimmers, especially the extended reach models. The Echo chain saw I have has been good, too.
The one RedMax product I will continue to run are the weed wackers, they have been good to me, as have the Shindaiwa.

I run redmax 8000 blowers. There is a huge difference in power between those and the 7001's. But reliability is an issue. Minor recoil problems, a blown motor coverered under warranty and a broken cowl. I had carbon buildup problems until I switched to amsoil.

Who makes the most powerful blower these days? I'm thinking about changing brands as well. I can tolerate the occasional breakdown of the redmax since it is such a powerhouse but wonder if there is something else out there that can compete with it? I always had great luck with echo but didn't have near the power of Redmax 8000's when I switched a few years ago.

Chris, I would say the RedMax 8000's are a bit more powerful than the Echo 750/755, but not by much. The fact that the new Echos have been so bulletproof for me means a lot. If we need more power, the guys just grab one of the Little Wonder wheeled blowers.
I started out running the older Echos, the PB400Es, and the "newer" PB4600/46LN, etc. There is no comparison to a new 755:cool:

While I was at my dealer yesterday he showed me the Shindaiwa 4 stroke blower. It has considerable more power than a redmax 8000. For the same price I think I might give one a try. Same weight too.

Don't have any dealers close to me. I have run Stihl for 6 years, and other than replacing plugs and a fuel line, I have had not problems. Had a trimmer stolen last year from my trailer, and I bought another one. Just picked up a new backpack blower, the Stihl 550. My old 340 is still running after 6 years, just had the money and figured that I would get a new one to have on hand.
