Here's the gun Fred uses.

The Eastwood one looks a lot like it.

The Schut's gun is what i use and like Chuck said many others make it has well its very cheap gun to buy ATD makes them too. I have never bought one its a common thing for the body supply stores like for me Auto Value to give them away for buying rustproofing and Schuts required spray materials.

One thing about Fliud Film is its much thinner in the 5 gal bucket so i usally add a small amount of Texco Clear to mine to thicken it up.

You can also set down and make up diff pick up tubes for diff size can sprayers or use a empty Schuts bottle i also have made my own longer wands for reaching into tighter places... Another tip also is use a inline air reg to the sprayer so you can turn down in certain areas if not 180lbs of shop air pushes the material hard and fast and foggs really bad. The gun was designed to spray really thick rocker gaurd so switching to FF makes a hell of a mess with high line presuure.

Fred is correct, spraying the bulk product is tricky and not always successful.

The Navy and Otis elevator use oil cans and paint brushes to apply :ff.

The aerosol product has a thinner in it that allows it to penetrate and spray better.

Fred, part of the issue is that I got you the NAS which is a little thinner. Pretty sure that's what Peter got you too. They have a thicker version avail.

P.S. Use a gun like the one Fred has down here too.

Do you need to purchase the bottle along with the gun?

I really need to look into bulk vs the aerosol for plows, undercoating, waterproofing SS's. :popcorn

I was thinking the same thing mark. The cans are great , but i roll through them in no time. I have a compressor so I may try the eastwood gun. I think it comes with a bottle. Found out the gun from :ff costs $149 so I think ill stick to the $20 eastwood gun.

No bottle with Gun there kinda hoping you buy there product when they give the guns away Dutchman:D. You can buy a cheap bottle of Super Black or any type of gravy guard use it up and keep the bottle for future FF apps.

For those that like to Black out there truck frames like me the gun sprayer is the only way to go Black Beauty stays black and sticks to everything including your girlfriends, so wear correct gloves and mask.. The last i checked a can of 3-M Blackout was 14.50 you can buy bulk for around 19 a gal and cut it, i can spray three trucks with a gal. If spraying FF or any rustproofing in doors and rocker panels remember fellows there are factory drains in most all lower door skins and rockers make sure you dont plug the holes as this is the main reason for failed rustproofing.

One of the biggest reasons i like FF is the Wrangler it has alot of Exotic chassis parts i dont want black so spraying FF makes these parts protected for the winter and in the spring you can pressure wash it off and have them look good again.

I bought my shutz gun from Canadian Tire for around $18, any major automotive supply place should have them. Used the can from a Rust Check dripless oil and put a rubber hose on the end to reach inside doors etc. where the gun doesn't fit well.

I made my own system for this using a gun like Fred shows. I started off with an old propane tank. Took the valve off. I put a tire valve core in the hose connection of the valve with an old hose connector fitting that i had to cut off the end of the hose connection, this will slide over the end of the valve stem and hold it in tight. Drilled a hole in the bottom of the propane tank and welded 3/8 elbow black pipe fitting in the hole. Connected a piece of 3/8 hose to the fitting and they other end to the gun. You will also need a ball valve in the hose line.Pour your oil into the top of the propane tank. Put the valve back on and put a few pounds of pressure to the valve stem with the valve open. This presurizes the tank and allows the oil to flow to the gun to be sprayed on. Connect your air compressor to the gun and have at it. It may seem like a hillbilly invention but i use it twicea year and works great. I use about a gallon and a half of 80/150 gear oil per truck. I have never tryied fluid film. I will try that this spring to see how it does.If anyone has any questions and needs a pic just ask.

Pictures would be great. I apply NAS with a brush, tried to tin for HVLP, that was not successful. Looking for a better way to apply NAS. I also use the pump spray style :ff.
