Hey guys I need to get more salt and I was gonna get a ton tomorrow and I was wondering does it hurt to let salt in 50lb bags sit outside if it is covered up and dry?

I stocked alot this fall, just in a building I have, just a roof over it, open on the sides. it got some snow on it and was still fine, I am sure if its covered it will be fine as long as its bagged good. If the bags are not sealed good you may get moisture, then ice, then hard salt block.;)
Actually the salt hardens due to the process of losing its moisture, not freezing ;) (See the Frozen Salt Bags or similarly named thread here for the details)
I regularly leave salt bags out side, covered, uncovered, in the snow & rain, dry etc. etc. It will still work, as long as you don't let it get so wet that it dilutes.

You should be OK. I had two trailer loads sit for three years once. No problems. My biggest problem was the money that was spent and that we had to sit on it for the duration. I thought that it would never snow again in Jersey.
Calcium chloride is a different story. It can get clumpy.
