While fueling today my driver saw a drip drip from a hose we replaced last year. Brought the truck back to the shop with a new hose in tow. Replaced the hose and noticed that it was rubbing on the damper. Now I know that the hose we installed last year it was no where near the damper when we put it in. AHHA new water pump was installed in Sept by a shop we never used before. They must have changed the hose and used one that "fit". The new hose is no where near the damper. I am just glad we caught it before the storm.

Its lack of common sense that causes problems like you just experienced .......anyone can turn screwdriver to tighten a hose clamp . It takes minimal observational skills to notice how the hose was routed . You paid the going rate for the repair but got unskilled results

That's one of the reasons I'm working with older trucks. I can do the "nuts and bolts" repairs myself and trust my work more than I do most shops output. With the newer stuff there is too much technology for a homegrown mechanic to deal with so you're at the mercy of the shops.

Actually the 89 truck I speak of is the old body style pre 87 if you will. It was just at the time I needed the water pump we were real busy with home improvment work and I " trusted " this shop. I was referred by a friend. Well anyway I dont even know why they changed the hose, the existing hose was only 6 months old. Now that we had the leak, I had to change the hose myself anyway. Oh way at least its ok now.
