I love my JD 3400 for all around everything. It does a great job of pushing snow ,...and stacking. An end loader does not have the reach for stacking in a heavy snow belt like we have here in the UP. Its just one tough German machine.... I have a 3000 foot drive/ private road to maintain, which includes steep elevations. the cat guys can't go anywhere with thir loaders when the road gets steep... even a slight incline brings them to a halt. P/U trucks won't work here ether , way too much snow and also too steep.

I have been wondering if anyone else out there is doing what I am doing with my JD. I have yet to run across anyone who even ownes one of these machines. This makes my second season , and I am happy with what it does... besides , it just fits into my underhouse garage.

I was thinking of getting one of those telehandler type machines. I've just never got to try one out yet. They seem like they just got about a thousand more uses than a regular loader and seem to be more manuverable. I'll check em out when the weather breaks not that i'd use it for snow but I can just see so many other uses for it

not all Telehandlers are made the same. Some are more suited for the jobsite , especilly those with long 40" reach. The JD 3400 , is more an AG> unit , very popular with dairy Farmers in Europe.

Pretty sure JD Dave has this model.

Also interesting that pickup trucks can't handle the drives. Or loaders. Maybe they need to chain up? Funny how loaders work out west in the mountains and trucks work out east--Maine for instance--where the 'hills' are far steeper than the UP.

The P/U guys do well in flat areas..but refused to look at my road...so I bought the JD 3400 for year round work, also helped a lot while landscaping, moving 8,000 lb rocks, and home construction,..on this mountain top, over looking Lake Superior.
Chain-up ? yes that would work well , I have yet to see a single Loader around town ,...with chains. Don't work well when you travel city streets a lot. Radial snow tires are becoming more popular.They are expensive , I just ordered a set of Nokians for my JD, I hope they help....Steep drives ?...yes , we have them, The private road I maintain goes from 700 feet to 1300 feet in less than 3 miles. I know thats not much out west , but is here. I would guess we get more snow than most of Maine also.... Our highest peak is close to 2,000 , lots of grades around here...we are in the Huron Mountians , very old , very worn down , still beatifull....for the Midwest !
