Woa! Good luck! Hooking up something like remote start after :drinkup can be very interesting sometimes. Been there and have been able to get a lot done. I just hope you don't have any complications. That's where the fun can stop being fun. Good luck. Jake.
Need any help.
Just ask.

Quite an adventourous task.
I would much rather pay to have that job done then do it myself for sure.

Well i have it all installed and it starts and then stops. I have all the wires hooked up except the heater and parking lights. They instrutions say I need to buy a Factory alarm bypass kit. Is ther anotherway to get this thing going. This is on a 2001 chevy blazer. When the dealer opens tommorow i will find out how much this kit it but i have a feeling its som $$$$$$. It wasnt a bad install i went out a bought a six pack and with soildering and heatshrinking it was about 2.5 hours. But i still have to hook up the heater and parking lights. The color wire they say i should tap into arent the ones. So i have to investicate furter. Much thanks

BT,DT!
Man what a PITA!!! I spent all weekend putting one in my wifes car. Get it in, DEAD! Test everything I can find, DEAD! Give up and call Boomers, they had one in the next weekend in about 4 hours. Was buggy for a while, but they fought with it till it was right, (bad antenna) WELL worth the cost! :D
I put one in 2 months ago an dis the best ad on I ever put on it is not the most fun thing to do but it is not that bad. I don't don't know what company yours is but this link is for design tech and they list all the wire colors for all makes and models. http://www.designtech-intl.com/Content/techsupport/wirecolors/

Mine does everything it should it starts but the teft system shut the engine down (thinking its being stolen) All the remote starter really doing is hot wiring the car. So i just need to find out how much the o.e. bypass kit costs. I hope not to much.

I have them for 30 bucks cnd.
However you have to cut some wires on the gm factory wiring.
Your vehicle has PASSLOCK II.
This is how I do it.
You have to start the vehicle with a key, then cut the yellow wire, then strip the black wire, using an ohm meter put the pos. side of the ohm meter on the key side of the cut yellow wire, then put the common side of the ohm meter on the black wire. Measure and recorded the resistance between the two wires. Then set the bypass to that. Connect it to the auto start and your away

mac is correct.
Usually what we do is just solder the correct resistor (to match the key resistance) directly in place. This will totally disable the passkey system. It will allow the remote start to work, and prevent you from getting stranded when the lock cylinder screws up (very common).

mac, wyldman You are the s***. I went out today after work and got the bypass i got it for $30. The instrutions werent the greatest for the bypass that is. I hook up everything the only wires i had problems with was those two wires. It said the car wouldnt start to wait 10 minutes and try again BY KEY so the bypass can read the r-code or something i did this for like a hour gave up hook it back to normal. Because sence there were Two yellow wires in my harness i thought one went to one and the other went to the other. I came home look at you two posts and 5 minutes later i can push the button and she starts MAn thats cool. And first thing in the moring i was going to go have it done by a shop. Much thanks

If i could of got it done for $100 i would of. But around here its $200- $300. This whole install cost me $40 all i had to buy was the bypass and a new batterie (for the remote). A friend gave me a brand new remote starter so it wasnt to bad. THe install wasnt all that bad either I only ran into a problem with those two wires. That was solved in 5 minutes on this great site. So yes i would do it again if need be. NOw tinting windows is another story i would have that done by a shop LOL.

For a new GMC truck, its going to cost about 475 cnd.
Which includes.
The remote starter.
Installing it to start.
Installing the power locks.
And the bypass.
Have not done one of the newer dodge's yet but they are only to be unreal $$$$$.
If anyone is putting an auto start into a newer import check your wires before you hook them up to the auto start. Many are not correct from vehicle to vehicle. (Meaning same model year, etc.)

Not for me as all my vehicles are in garages ;)
Had a family in town that died 2 yrs. ago that started the car in the garage with a remote starter but forgot to open the door :headwall
I did install 1 for my sister as she has no garage & she loves it, other then she worries the whole time it's running by it's self that someone is going to steal it :zoom :zoom

I mentioned it before but anyone with an auto start in a garage should have a co dedector in the ajoining living space,
My wifes truck started in a closed garage because it was set to start the truck below 10 degrees.
USE CAUTION I now have a co dedectors all over and the truck's auto start option of starting below 10 degrees is shut off

I just had a Avitar put on my 2004 Dodge Cummins I can't live without them. I have one on my GMC 6.5 diesel. Once you have one it's hard to go without. 249.00 Installed at Best Buy.
If you have diesel or turbo gas engine they come with a turbo cool down mode from 1-6 Minutes. Push the button and walk away it will stop running after the set time . Mine is for one minute
and if I need longer I can shut off w/ remote.

curious how do these things work on a desiel when you cant see the glow plug light going out:confused:

There are two types for diesels. One that waits a set amount of time (adjustable),or another that is triggered when the glow plug light goes out.The second one is better,as it starts as soon as the glow plugs have cycled.

A good stereo shop would probably be best,as they usually specialize in that kind of stuff.I have a Command Start,by Design Tech, but there are lots of good ones on the market.Just make sure you get one designed to start a diesel, not one that is hacked up to get it to work.

It took them awhile but they have got them to work with diesels. The early ones back in '97 were not really perfected but the ones of today will work better Viper makes something that goes together with there alarms I was told .
