Last night about 3:00 a.m. my truck decides it no longer wants to move in reverse. Shifter moves fine and feels normal, engine idle kicks down from neitral to reverse but no go ( well a little as long as you are on flat ground or rolling backwards it will move a little but you have to rev the crap out of it) Worst part is truck is still under extended warranty but service dept. not open till Mon. and 3-5 predicted for Sun. Is there a linkage that could have come out for reverse or something else stupid?
2000 Chevy 1 ton crew cab 454 4wd single rear wheel,
4L-80E transmission
Please tell me there might be a simple fix!!!
Sounds like it's more serious. Check this thread (http://www.snowplowing-contractors.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1826) for some talk of the same. We bought a 98 1 ton this summer and lost the tranny in the same fashion. The dealer wanted to rebuild it (still under the 30 day warranty), but agreed to let us pay the difference for a GM reman. Cost us $250 but now there is a 3 year 50K warranty. If that is an option for you it might be the way to go. Goodluck!

What ever they do will have a 3 YR 50000 MI warranty it is just a matter of getting it done. I talked to my salesman earlier and explained the situation and that may very well be looking to trade thie truck in the spring anyway so he is checking about getting me a (24 HOUR test drive plow truck for next event) their truck my equipment, so we will see comes of this.

Hey, sorry to hear about the transmission troubles. But on the other hand, I think thats great of the dealership to lend you a plow truck so you can go do your route and not miss a snow event. :) They are being nice so they get the new truck sale, when you decide to buy one. ;) Still very nice of them, I think. Well I am high and dry for upcoming event. Commercial truck guy at dealer says plow truck cannot be off of their lotwith dealer tags. I thought that the demo was a shot in the dark but it was worth a shot.
I even tried to by a tranny from junkyard yesterday apparently 4L80E are pretty hard to come buy, no one has one in area.

They just didn't want you to use the truck. The 24 hour test drive is good for plow trucks. Did it myself. Didn't buy it though. I think they were a little upset, but I told them I was just looking at my options, they wanted me to take it. Bet that works on a lot of people, get them to take the nice new vehicle that's better than what they have and we have them.
