Had one of the guys we sub for ask if I knew of a Self Propled Rotary Broom that he could use for the sidewalk crew.

Told him I did not know of anything but said I would ask the guys.

Anyone know of such an animal, and if so who makes it.

They already use back back blower, snow blowers and lots of shovels.

Ariens makes a walk behind rotary broom. Quite pricey if I remember right.

Sweepster makes one as well.

Used a BCS for a while,, NOT a well thought out machine. The sweeper is center driven and leaves a nice strip right in the center.

I have owned a power broom that goes on my walk behind mower for snow removal. Found that the salt just ate up the engine base and shortened the life of the mower. Played games with the electric clutch wires etc. Sold the mower and the broom assembly after 2 years. Took a big hit. The deck looked lile new the rest of the unit was a different story.

My Brother has an old Ariens blower. It was supposedly a demo from the first year that you could drop the blower and hook (literally) on a broom. The blower assembly had two hooks on top, that latched (VERY loosely) onto the motor chassis. Two bolts go in the bottom. Feels like it is going to come apart the whole time you run it. He still has it in his garage "just in case" but runs a 4 stroke Crapsman Single Stage. Didn't click your links yet Mark, but I do recall seeing an Italian made unit years ago, at a mower shop on display that was blue, and looked like a smaller version of an old Gravely. The big plu$ wa$ that all the attachment$ were $tainle$$. (On edit, it must have been a BCS, about 10 years ago. Don't see stainless now! WOW, $1500 for the broom alone would buy a lot of single stage blowers!)

Rich I think that the single stage units with rubber paddles last longer than bristles and do a better job. I know that Ariens needed ramps to load it with the blower on it, and I bet the broom is about as heavy.

Rich,

Stihl makes a multy task tool that has a bristle or rubber sweep attatchment.
I've nevy used it but I've heard good things.

We have been using the Ariens walk behind power brush for a few years now. Not 1 problem.

If I remember it was over a $1000.00 but I has gotten us out of allot of jams with the small storms (useless after 2"). Most times you will not even have to salt.

I have used that machine as well as our power broom for the skid steer after we salt we will then run the machines and the mix the slush and salt and after one pass its water and the place looks great.
