Well i replaced the transmission and i thought while i had it down i would replace the leaking rear seal in my 305 . Well know i can't get the top seal out . It's hard as rock so it has to come out. i have lowered the crank but that doesn't get it. is there a tool for this I'm stuck.... Any one have a secret way of doing this ?

I have an old long screwdriver, that is ground off to a blunt end.Just put it in there, and hammer is straight up until it starts to move.Once you get an inch or so out,you should be able to grab the other side and yank it out.

When you put the new seal in,offset the ends from the rear main cap by about a 1/8 inch, and use a small dab of RTV on either side.
