I'm new to a Boss, so sorry for the questions, but, with 8-14" of snow coming tonight, I've got an issue.
My Boss 10 V won't raise the headgear to connect. It has been intermitent and this am the re is nothing when I hit the switch on the headgear.
Plow control works from the cab, so I know I have ground.
All lights are working.
I tested the pins on the connection, only have one that is hot, is that normal?
The switch on the headgear has no power on the pins toward the plow, can't get to the other pins as the headgear is tilited forward.
Should I undo the pin that holds the lift ram and manually tilt the headgear back?
I've been trying to trace this issue out, but am at a loss.
I'm out in the garage working on this, so I won't be near the 'puter, if anyone has any ideas, please call me.
Thank you.

Thanks John. Appreciate the call.
The Boss issue was pretty minor compared to my issue with one of my Fishers this evening.
Thanks again.

Yup. Thanks though, I'll be in touch.
Howard says you're the man to know.:D
Alan
Did you have the power control in the cab in the float position????? I had 3 new Boss owners this year forget that was a needed item to do..... Just for the record in the event something should go wrong with the smart hitch switch you can always push up on the headgear manually in an emergency without much effort. Then to remove it just release the levers(turn to off) and then again push up on the headgear to release the locks and it will slowly fall forward and detach.

Yup, that's how I had to do it. The odd thing is, if I push back on the headgear and hold the switch, it will start and tilt on it's own, but the pump will not run when the headgear is in the down position, and it's not a ground issue. Tried a set of jumper cables to make a ground to rule that out. Almost as if it needs the valve in there to move before it will engage, makes no sense to me at all.

I have never seen that happen without being a ground issue but I will check some Tech Support and see what i can come up with. If you download the manual for it you will have the wiring schematic and maybe you will see something there. I will get back with you on it

Alan, if you take the cover off the pump/valve. If I recall the far left solenoid valve is the lift cylinder. I did have to put one of the spade connectors back on. Just once a couple of years ago. Maybe that connector is loose again?

That would do it. Like I said, If he downlads the manual there is a single line diagram and a schematic along with a valve location diagram that will show him everything. Seems wierd though that it will go after he gives it a push. Who knows.
Alan
Do what Howard said......:D

I have the manual, ..........................................
somewhere.
And at this point the plow has only come off the truck once since Dec. 3 and will be staying on for another 2 weeks anyway.

You know, that truck seems to be blessed, everywhere it goes, the owner gets dumped on. :(
Care to sell it? :grinz
