Heres my next dilemma, should i tint the fronts on my truck and risk "fix it" tickets or just leave the fronts factory, heres pics of both (photoshopped tinting)

Are you planning to plow with the truck? If so I wouldn't tint them. The tinting dramatically reduces night time visibility. I've tinted a number of vehicles, but never anything I plow with.

no plowing is planned in the near future with this truck

I would tint them. I've got 30% on fronts of my trucks and its not a big deal, considering going darker on the truck that I plow with. Never hit anything while plowing because of the tint, we have plenty of lights on the trucks. In MI, there are strict lawns about tinting and I havent had any problems in the 6 years that they have been done.

i got 15% on mine. (thats about as dark as stock tint of most vehicles) Plenty of cops have looked, but no problems. That photoshop tint looks like it would be about 35%

What exactly are the laws on this? In Australia, you can get any window except the windscreen tinted up to 30 with no probs.

Well then, we should all goto Australia with our plow trucks.......

Lol! I like the way you think! :haha

I'd tint 'em. I love my tint, and every vehicle I've owned except 1 has had tint of at least 35%. The current truck has 20% and I've been stopped 3 times in the last 8 months... I've never been stopped with 35% though (MN law is 50%). My Expedition has 35% due to my wife not wanting any darker (she primarily drives it). Nighttime visibility with tint sucks, so I added more lights and a couple cameras... :wink I only have 1 lot that doesn't have lights on all night long, any more and I may have thought twice about going that dark... You can ask Derek about backing into things plowing with dark tint, he's experienced... :D

I put new reverse lights on my truck this year. I got mr-16 bulbs in 75W and got the nice fixture of an asv. I HAVE 6 SPREADING BEHIND THE TRUCk... YEs, 6 75w 38 degree spread bulbs. I could probably do limo now.

Laws in Michigan say no tint of Front windows or windshield. The further south you go, the more accepting they are. I actually do have a letter from the doctor because I have a medical need for tint :wink so if i do get pulled over for it, i get out free!!!!
I have had my 03 done for almost 2 years now never been pulled over for tint. I think the company name on the door might help??? I don't know though. My cousin has a 4x2 chevrolet that is lowered a bit with wide tires (hmmmmmm...see what i'm getting at). He got his done the same as mine and got nailed within 1 week. Perhaps cops profile tint?? who knows.

I love mine and hate driving cars that don't have it now!

The laws in Mich are for no more than 20 percent covering back glass or sides . Just a FYI like First class said it may very in diff towns to being inforced i have impounded two 30 percenters and one 50 percenter this year after these same three vechs failed to compley with fix it ticket.

I understand that most every body here would not be a threat and even though i personally would not plow in a truck with Tinted back glass i do understand law inforcements concerns walking up on a 50 percenter on a traffic stop.

In Mi Limos, and tour buses get the exception.

First of all, my tint had NOTHING to do with me backing into a light pole. That was mostly rooted in the fact that I had been plowing for 21 hours with only 3 hours of sleep before that. Last account, total brain fade.

Second, Tint 'em. I have 20% on my front windows, and a note from one of my hunting buddies... I mean, from my chiropractor. Says something like "pt suffers from migraine headaches aggravated by bright sunlight, recommend tinted window glass" Although, over here on the free side of town, I've never had to use my note in 10 years of driving darker-than-legal, unlike Brendan. That said, for plowing, a couple of aux lights and you would be fine. I actually find it more troublesome backing at night in the summer, as you don't have the white of the snow reflecting light. It's been so long since I've driven a vehicle without dark tint, I guess I don't know what I'm missing.

In most states, the tint restrictions are an officer safety issue. If I am pulled over, I turn on the interior lights, roll down the window(s) that are being approached, and keep my hands in a position that is visible to an approaching officer. Never had any problems.

I didn't read down far enough to see the OP didn't plan on plowing.

Plowing?....no tint.

Not plowing...do what you want.

I just figured that this is a snowplowing forum that he'd be plowing with it.

I've had both and will never tint a plow truck again.

i chose not to tint them on the poll, but i thought it was because you were going to plow. i agree with steve, for plowing zero tint is best. but i know some guys have personal trucks that have plows on them, so they want tint the rest of the year.
my current truck is only tinted on the back doors and back window. i know i hate backing up at night. i need to add more backup lights. but i hate wiring and never take the time to do it. not having a shop to pull it in, hurts too.
for plowing, i think i'd rather look back or in the mirrors than at a screen which seems like it would take longer. maybe not, just a guess. i like simple things and less clutter in the front seat.

id tint it it looks alot better with it, i have my plow truck windows tinted all around and across the front windsheild. just call and find what the tint laws are but i wouldnt worry much bout it i havent had any problems with the cops. just your opinion on what you wanna do you can always take it off if you dont like it.
