Does anyone use a telehandler for plowing or to run a snowblower? Just curious.

Several guys around here. Work great. Any specific questions.

All with pushers, that I know of.

We run a JD 3800 with a 12 of 14 ft pusher on it. It will turn on a dime and you have to be carefull not to flip it when piling banks up with the boom extended right out. A friend of mine traded a 3 year old JD 624 in on two new telehandlers, he likes them better then the big loader. We only use ours in the winter, we havn't found any other work for it yet.

Its hard to believe they push that well but since you are talking from first hand experience I believe you

I've seen pics of telehandlers with blades and snow blowers on them. I have never seen one in action or heard of anybody on this site using them. Seems like they would be the cats arse for piling lots of snow. I would love to try one out but I have no use for one in the off season. Anyone got any pics of them?

I think it is a matter of mass..

Doesn't a 6k telehandler weigh 15,000lbs or more?

And the ones I just looked up flow up to 40gpm... that would run a nice blower

Damn... No Idea they had that kind of flow rate

JLG has a real nice one geared more towards landscapers, and small contractors. Although I think we figured out it wouldnt have the flow for a blower it would still be pretty badass with a loader on the front. Its nice and compact too!! Saw it at the Kentucky GIE Expo

I had a sub using one for a couple years, like was stated, very maneuverable and capable of pushing a lot. John, these things run a lot of HP and are quite heavy with gear reduction hubs to put all that power to use.

Ever seen them in a nice muddy construction site?

The farmers here have been using them for loading trucks with pumpkins, squash, cabbage. Last fall they were loading cabbage with the trucks on the road and the telehandler in the field across a deep ditch. Was so wet there was no way a forklift would even run around in the mud even the 4x4 ones. Look like an impressive machine. I can imagine how well a blower on that would work. or even a blade you can push snow 25 feet past the curb without leaving the pavement :D

For those not familiar with what a telehandler is, they are the lifts commonly used in the brick and block laying businesses and around construction sites.

I googled them and found them at www.salemachines.com.

Personally I don't like driving it but the guys do. The guy that traded his 624 in uses the telehandlers in very tight spaces and he can only run 12 ft max pusher blades, so the 624 was overkill. You can also almost buy 2 JD 3800's for the price of one 624. Our telehandler pushes really well, all the tires are loaded so I think that helps.
