Hello,
My sister has a 99 Merc Grand Marquis. About a week and a half ago the car started to go into panic/alarm mode at all hours of the morning. Thinking surely I could fix this I went out had the battery tested: found out it was bad, so I replaced it and on she goes. Well two days later low and behold same problem- check of battery indicates its good. So we pull the horn fuse as a temporary fix for then. So I havent heard much about this issue since then but I go to drive the car tonight and find that when you hit the unlock button on the factory key fob the doors unluck and the trunk pops. After the locks are unlocked you hit the button again and the trunk pops open again almost on cue. This gets better if you just shut off the car and walk away the trunk pops after about 15/30 seconds. You shut it and it opens again, this can go on and on and on.
Now you may be asking why I am posting this here, well it is because my sister is young and lacking large amounts of money and this is a problem that could be easy or a real time consuming mess. It is a factory alarm/keyless system so I was wondering if maybe I could just throw a new module into the car and it might solve my issues?
Thanks guys, I realize a well qualified tech might be my only option, I just was fishing for an easy fix. Thanks,
Ryan
