I have a 2000 Silverado 1500 two wheel drive with a roar in the right front wheel area checked and found a little slack in the wheel bearing. Also noticed that the front wheel bearing assembly is not like older chevys, it does not have a hub cap that you can remove to get to the spindle bolt in order to get the hub off and change the bearings. How do you get into it to replace the bearing. I have a bad feeling that it is a non-servicable assembly. Anyone know something about this???

It is a non-servicable unit,it's a complete hub and bearing assy.Just like the 4WD's and FWD cars.

You need to remove the calipers and rotors, and then remove the 4 bolts from the inside of the knuckle. The unit then come right out.Watch out for the ABS sensors and wiring, they are easily damaged.
