I have a 2001 Chevy Blazer with the "auto four wheel drive". It's the electronic push button style. It worked well for a few years but a while back when I started the vehicle it shifted into 4 wheel lo range all on it's own. Each time I shut it off and re-started it the same thing happened. I ended up unplugging the solenoid that locks in the front diff. just to make it driveable. Now with winter coming I should fix it. Any ideas as to what's causing this? It hasn't registered any codes or anything.

We used to have a '99 blazer with autotrac. The shift actuator on ours went belly-up. When the actuator died, it manifested itself by shifting into 4LO and staying there. I also (at a different time) had the pushbutton assembly replaced . Both were replaced with yard parts, as we were in the process of driving that truck into the ground... we sold it with 206,000 miles on it... body was great, but the chassis, engine and transmission were SHOT!!

Thanks I'll have to search for a shift actuater. Hopefully that will take care of it.
