I am helping a friend who manages 14 miles of dirt road for a homeowner's association spec out a new truck. The have been using a 3500 Chevy, Older IH 2wd dump (180hp@11,000feet:nope) and a 4x6 grader with just a moldboard..

I am suprised at how little the upgrade is over a decked out pickup truck... Really. Considering the sticker on a crew cab dually Duramax that I saw was 55k!

And the turning radius 27' wall clearance.

And the 5k charge for emissions:mad:

Dealer here in Colorado said to skip over the 4200 4x4...

I didnt see prices Howard but the 7400 with the max engine would be a great truck.

I have driven all three of my bigger trucks and hands down short of a Pete or Kw my 4300 is the most comfortable truck i own to drive. IH has so many features even 4 months later iam still finding stuff . The coolest thing for me on the IH is Diamond logic i can run the trucks diag's setting in the drivers seat going down the road. The other neat thing with all IH trucks is there intgreted wiring systems making them one of the simplest trucks to upfitt.

The list goes on and on the turning radius is better than any leaf spring Super duty i own and it will turn circles around my 5500 Chev, right down to the break away mirrors those have saved me three times since owning the truck. All of that coupled with the most durable diesel powerplant on the road.

I am looking at upgrading a truck I have. I am considering the 4300, 7300 & a 335 Pete. I am having a hard time making up my mind.

Our problem is GVW's. When fully loaded we constantly top out at about 43K lbs. Thats a hefty fine for a 33K gvw truck but I am also having a hard time wrapping my head around the 12% Fed Excize tax. $7500 in extra taxes is tough money to part with.
