I was thinking of getting the backrack but am shifting my thoughts to the safety rack.
Which one do you have and why one and not the other?

Supose it depends on what your using it for, i have had a Back rack and liked it although before i sold the truck it was on i did the meausements as it would be easy to fab your own.
On the Back rack by the time you get all the add ons included there pretty pricey.

I was initially going to use it for the lights, but I now throw a fair amount of lawn tools in the pickup.
If I get a dump insert then I guess the safety rack would work better on that then the backrack would.
Just thinking through this before I plop down the mulla.

I personally think them backracks are about worthless. They cannot protect your window like something covered with expanded wire. IMO get the protector, because that one time somthing hits it, It has paid for itself.

I have the back rack, I use if for a place to mount my light bar, and a place to tie stuff down to, atv, welding tanks, tools. So it depends what you want it for. Did you go to www.backrack.ca ?

if you use the bed alot, it is always wise to protect the back window. Therefore, I think the safety rack would be a wiser choice.

I am back to thinking about the backrack again. Its back and forth.
I have a crew cab, and think that the mesh would be a pain for backing up, especially when plowing snow.
Then there is the question, what if someone gets sloppy and throws a tool threw the back window.
The back rack is cheaper, and right now that is a plus

just get a back rack and modify it with a removable mesh insert. then you can remove it for plowing if thats your only concern :)

I have the safety rack. I bought it to protect my back window. I dont notice it when backing up, or looking in rear view. One thing to remember if you are planning on putting dump insert in you will need to remove the rack. Just by the back rack with insert. Also if you carry a cross over toolbox buy the adapter that covers the bolt that holds it in place. Otherwise you wont be able to have it against the cab.

I ordered the back rack with the tool box bracket.
I will make the mounts myself and then throw some pix up.

I just picked up a 97 F350 and I found a tool box on Ebay. When I went to pick up the tool box, the guy had a Back Rack for sale as well. I picked it up and installed it in the bed with the tool box over it. I added a CB antenna, amber traffic stick and finding an amber light to put on top.
Back rack works good for me. Here is a cell pic, not too clear.

The Backrack in yesterday, and I installed it last night. It took all of thirty minutes.
Now to get the light, and mount the rest.
