My prediction for snowfall from 2-6 Feb. is that it will snow everyday.....know why? 'Cuz I have jury duty! :headwall
You gotta love it......

It depends on the judge, but most of them stay home when it snows, because they can!
If they do, you can go plowing.

show up the first day and make them think you are the most prejudice, judgemental, egotistical, uneducated and most unwilling person they have ever seen. THE WILL NOT WANT YOU IN THE JURY POOL. good way to get dismissed fast.

I have the same problem, I have been called to serve Feb 9-13.
I wrote them a letter explaining 2 things
1) I am a small company that plows snow and has no one as a backup, thus possibly loosing large amounts of income as well as being in breach of contracts with my customers.
2) My wife is due to have a baby around the 20th of Feb, now I explained that I realize that her due date is after my jury period, but if she were to have the baby early, contempt or not I would leave to be with her. (of course I explained it nicer than that)
I also suggested putting me in the pool anytime for a week Mid March-Mid April, this is a relatively slow time for me, and would be happy to serve then.
Last time my wife was called up she never even served. She called till Wed of her week when they finally said that they were not starting any cases anymore that week.
Once she served on a 2 day jury.
I would write a letter explaining your problem and see if they will excuse you.
Be careful about seeming too prejudice, if they deem you are lying they can find you in contempt for that.
I sent the letter out last week so I will let you know how it turns out.

Well I had to do it once but did not get picked.I think that if i did ever get picked I would not make a very good one for the simple reason If i have to worrie about my business I would do what ever i could to get out of there fast.Unlike the judge that said to us I got called and I served ,sure what job are you leaving ???Let them work for them self then have to travel heven knows how far where there is no parking for your truck or if there is it's and arm and a leg. They just do not care about you so why should we care about them.
Besides every pleds not guilty so they must be even if they are cought so why waste my time.

When a friend was called, if you were not put on a case at first, you reentered the jury pool to be called for another case if needed. Basically you're in for a week regardless, even if you are the most prejudiced individual out there. I don't know how it works elsewhere, but that's here in Cuyahoga County.
If you want to be kicked off a jury, just make sure they know you're a big believer in personal responsibility and people having to own up to their actions. Any good defense attorney doesn't want you sitting in judgement of their client.
