View Full Version : '05 Mustang!

The Ford Mustang has been totally revised from the ground up for '05 (to be introduced late summer '04) and I think the results are heartstopping! The look is retro, and definately has the lines of the '69 Mustang freshened up. My opinion is that was the best looking model of the run!

There will be a V-6 base model with over 200 hp, and a GT version with over 300 hp V-8! A Shelby model is scheduled for '06, who knows what that will bring?

I can't wait to see what Saleen and Roush do with this car!

Here's the GT in red.

I pulled these pictures off Ford's website. I've seen a photo of a dark metallic blue model with Shelby style stripes, it brings back memories of seeing these cars running the streets around here. Makes my heart race just to look at them!

I'm going to get down to the NY Auto show this year and get some photos to share. One way or another, I'm buying one of these cars!!!:zoom

At the auto show last year, they had one. I can't believe they are making the mustang cool again. Its about time. Thats a sweet looking ride. Back to basics is the key. Its weird I havn't seen any on the road around here, ususally I see all the newer ford models driving around here a year before they are released. I have to give a hats off to Ford for their Mustang, New F-150 (Hey, its nice for a "little" truck) and of course the superduty series. Now if I could just convince them that they need to give me one for real world testing, I would be all set!

I have been a big fan of old GM iron for years. Mainly Buicks and Chevy's. But when I saw this car in the paper, wow, what a hot looking ride. This car will sell like hotcakes for sure. Smart marketing campain!

When I was 16 in '86 I split monthly payments on a 1986 Mustang LX hatchback with my mom. I wanted the SVO 5.0 with stick-shift. My mom signed the papers so we got a 4-banger automatic LX. Gutless 3-speed, but hey it looked real nice and not many other 16 year-olds had a new car to drive around back then.

That new Mustang is pretty cool looking, I might have to move my mid-life crisis up a few years and get me one!

Ford has done a MUCH better job styling this new Mustang than Pontiac has done with the bland looking GTO . Sorry to those who think the new GTO is hot .

I remember the Boss 302 was done in a color that was kind of brown mustard, I don't know what they called it, with black fender stripes. I'd love to see a freshened version of that!

I guess I am the first to say I dont really like it. It for sure looks like the old Stangs, but thats only good if you liked the old ones. :D Im sure it will start to grow on me once I see it in person and you start seeing them all over the place, but for now I think it looks a little too "weird". Mike

My second car was a 65 Mustang fastback, 289 with manual 3 spd. FUN ! My first car when I was married was a 69 Mustang fastback with 302 2 barrel automatic FUN. My Second car after marriage was a 76 Mustang II Mach I. Kinda fun. I got hooked on trucks and haven't looked at a car since. Cars are evil necessities. NOW.. maybe I better reconsider. That Pony is great! First car I've seen a pic of and said I want one in over 32 years. The Mopar man is thinking Blue Oval. Scarry !! :scramble

so i think i'll hang onto my 306 94 GT for a few more years:D

I took a few pics at the NY Auto Show! It was tough to get photos, so many people crowded around this car!

I'll let Johnny D describe my reaction!:wink

They've incorporated styling cues from various previous models. Here you can see the small rear window that previously denoted the "Shelby" Mustang.

Tailights, spoiler and "fake" gas cap all draw from earlier models. Too bad the gas cap isn't functional.:(

Jeff, that car was there too, but I couldn't get a shot without a lot of people hovering around it! A full SCCA race ready Mustang with over 400 hp! It appears in the upper right corner of the tail photo.

Can anyone identify the guy in the red ball cap in the background behind the green cap?

You Chevy guys won't like to hear this, but the Ford display had more people looking artound than any other manufacturer the whole afternoon. I had to wait 5 minutes for some of these shots, and they aren't that great.

Pelican, It's been along time since I got excited about a car. The last fifteen years I haven't bought anything or cared about anything with a motor unless it moved dirt or snow. THIS CAR has changed my mind a little. I have been checking them out for some time. I Love them. I'm going to see how this summer goes and I may just have one. I like it. I like it alot.

I have seen a few of them running around here, they must be test cars or something. But it is different when you see that car in person and especially going down the road. Real sweet. I do like they way it looks, even tho you can't put a plow on it. lol.

I was talking to my local dealer, they literally had a customer buy one off the truck. He was driving by and saw a red GT being unloaded, stopped and wrote a check. He drove it away 2 hours later, didn't even allow the dealer to prep it.

Right now the dealers are getting sticker price or more on them, the demand is so high for the GTs. My friend at the dealer advised to wait until Spring when the supply will be better, you will get a better price on it.

I read an article in Car & Driver about the car, they say GM and Chrysler are scrambling to come up with something comparable. The GT lists for $27,000 and has performance unmatched by any car within $10,000. It's built on a Jaguar chassis and the handling that comes with it is impressive! GT engine is rated (conservatively) at 300 hp!!

I never let the dealers touch " prep" the paint . They always put the buffer in the hands of the person with the least mechanical skill and they paint swirl away .

BUFFER...........from a dealer LMAO

A quick machine car wash and a fast application of liquid wax is about the closest to a detail that you get at most dealers now a days............

The days of a buffer and some hands on work are well history...

Most dealers are adding Machine car washes to their dealerships up in my neck of the woods as they expand/update their dealerships.

I highly doubt you will find most dealerships who actually even own a buffer anywhere but in their body department.................
