i BOUGHT A TAILGATE WESTERN PRO FLOW 1 SPREADER. i HAVE USED IT A FEW TIME AND WHEN I TURN THE SPREADER ON IT DOES'NT SEEM TO SPREAD THE SALT WIDE IT SPREAD JUST THE WITH OF THE TRUCK. I HAVE A VARIABLE SPEED CONTROLER I'VE TRYED USING DIFFERENT SPEEDS. SHOULD I ADJUST THE DEFLECTORS? HOW WIDE SHOULD I OPEN THE GATES? I'M SPENDING ALOT OF TIME SALTING A LOT THAN I NORMALLY WOULD. ANY ONE SUGGESTIONS? HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM?

All depend on the size of the product you are spreading.
Make sure it's bearings are well greased, hidden one under the cover on top, and one on bottem.
I have the deflectors as far back as possable
Using rock salt out of bags I put the gates on the first hole, if using smaller I put iot on half of that.

Use a low temp grease.Ordinary chassis grease will slow the unit down in the cold.
