I took the plunge at the SIMA show and ordered Neutro wash and the Lubra-seal, not an insificant investment, so I'm hoping it works as advertised. This was after seeing the corrosion on our 2004 3500 salt truck. The backing plates and e-brakes are roached. The underside of the truck is rusting out. So we'll be sandblasting and repainting the bed and frame rails this summer. Before this winter I'm going to use the Lubra-seal. Then after each salt run when we wash the truck (which I don't think was done as effectively last year), we'll use the neutro wash.

I'm wondering how others have applied the Lubra-seal and techniques they'd recommend. How messy is it? I thought about asking our mechanic about putting the vehcicles on their lift so we could get under them easily to spray the material, but I'm concerned about overspray. Although, the literature claims the material won't drip (assuming you don't overapply). Is there any place you shouldn't apply it? Obviously not onto brake parts, but otherwise, anything else that should be avoided? We purchased the sprayers they sell, one for the seal and one for the wash. I am concerned that not getting the vehicles in the air will mean an incomplete application since you can't get up and into the crevices of the truck. Has anyone sprayed it while on the ground or on jack stands?

Lastly, has anyone been using the products for a period of time - what's your opinion after using it? What would you do differently? Will you continue to use it?

I've only applied Lubra Seal to V boxes. It is definitely messy. No matter what you will get it on you, or your clothes, or your shoes. Buy some Tyvek jumpsuits with booties ;)

Overspray is a problem. The spreaders I did were powerwashed, but not with Neutrawash. They had Lubra Seal on them. I got them out of storage to get ready for the season. I did not store them, so I really can't comment about that, but they all had seized drag chains. I got them all freed up though. I applied the Lubra Seal going into the season. We ran a lot of salt that year, and after 6 or 8 storms, the insides of the hoppers had no Lubra Seal left on them. Up high on the sides there was some, but from halfway down to the inverted V there was none left. Time and the frequency of events didn't allow application in between events that year (yeah it snowed like hell 02' - 03').

If you are going to spray the underside of trucks I would cover the exhaust to prevent overspray.
