my 04 f-350, with 6.0 litre diesel has a gremlin in it.
when i start the truck up, and its cold, the throttle pedal does not work. i can push it all the way to floor and the truck just idles.
i was told that this is normal, to prevent engine damage, when the engine is cold. when i start it up and let it run for 1/2 hour or so, its fine.
i cant see this being normal.
im going to bring it back to the dealer soon, i just have to find time.

That's also a feature with the 7.3s. In extreme cold, you can't rev the motor until the oil temp has reached a certain point. I'd imagine that ensures proper lubrication to the turbo.
My truck doesn't take a half hour, but sometimes it's up to ten minutes. Plugging the truck in eliminates the delay.

Paul,
"Dead Pedal" has been an issue with the 6.0 PSD in the X's, 150 and 250's from what I have read the OCT Flash will fix this just bring it to the dealer even if there are not error codes ask them to flash the truck with the OCT update that should fix it. Also check the plug at the pedal sometimes a bad plug can cause problems when it gets really cold.
What do you think about the new Torqueshift tranny?? I love my PSD with the new tranny. My F-450 can flat out haul like a monster truck. I will be adding a 04/05 F-350 end of the summer so it will be new for next snow season. If I had the cash and was having a better snow season so far I would order it right now. It has really been dry so far this season.

Gizmo or Spike?
I looked at Ford and bought a Dodge....
Price $15,000 less for same fetures.
Also at the time, the 6.0 had many problems, however this is a feture built in the truck. There is nothing wrong with what it's doing.

LGF,
Dodge is hardly a Ford, but the 15K in your pocket is nice.
I have never expereienced dead pedal and we have had some -10 raw air temps here. But I do keep the engine block heater plug in when ever it is not running so that might help. I am not sure I can live with this being a built in feature. I will ask my tech during the next service.
FWIW, I ding a rear outter rim last storm loaded with salt so it was a pretty good ding. The bead held and I just wanted to get it changed before it caused any problems.
So I am thinking new truck only 6000miles I should just bite it and get the new rim from Ford. Just s steel rim should be like $200-$300. Well was I wrong, part guy looks it up and say $935.00 than said wait that can't be right, lets me check with the boss. Came back and said, it was right, $935.00 for 1 steel 19.5" rim.
Called around and went found one off a 03 just into the junk yard one month ago $100.00 they had all four and wanted to sell me the set for $300.00 because they did not think they would sell. Had the rim changed out and the flat spot was even worst once the tire was off. Need to be more careful on in those drive thru. Also really made me second think the 04 F-350 as a dually. Looks like that will be SRW.
