So back in 05, I went to the local stealer, and they tried to pull a fast one on me. Vowed to never go back. Bought a 1999 Jeep GC, and then the 05 Chrysler Town & Country from Warnock in East Hanover. So today I set out to get a new car/van/SUV. Went to Warnock. Checked NADA before I went to see what the van was worth. They said $15,400 with the 56,000 miles on it. I figured I owed about that. Get to Warnock, and they offer me $9700 for it on a trade:eek:  Then after some haggling, I was getting $11,500 for it. I owed $12,800 on it. I explained that is all I wanted for it. No way. There was a thing on the write up that stumped me. It listed $4,150 deducted from the price they started at, of $14,593.... It went like this...

Base Book Value--$14,593
Minus
Safety, LOF ----$495
Detail ----------$198
Reconditioning --$4,150
Market -$43.00
Total Adjustments --- $4800
Trade Value ----$9,793

I asked what reconditioning was, he said it was because of the miles. I said for $4K I could put a new motor and trans in it! Keep in mind this was the same salesman that I bought the other 2 vehicles from. At the end, he told me to sell the van on eBay and come see him. Said to list it for $13,995, I said you will put it on your lot for $16K he said no, $14,995 :huh

So I walked. I won't be going back to Warnock any time soon....

I went to Franklin Sussex (where I swore I would never go) just to see what they offered. Right from the get go they offered $11,500 for the van. A much lower price to start on an 07 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Salesman was a straight shooter. Maybe because I told him right from the start that I walked out of there two years ago when looking for the van, maybe not. We ran some numbers, and I told him I would be back later with my wife to see what she thinks, as it will be her vehicle. While I was home, I found an online coupon for $250 off any vehicle there, I printed it, and then left it home

In the end, They gave me the $250 off, and after a closer inspection of the van, they gave me $11,700 for it. I might be a fool, but I went with the 0% financing instead of the $3500 rebate, with a loan at 5.99%. So I paid more now, but I think this way I will have paid more of it off when I go to trade it in two years, and we owe more than it is worth.

Chuck, thats seems low to me. We have an 03 town and country. We considered trading it in on the pickup my wife bought a few months ago. Ours had 58k on it at the time. It was the lx with power doors ect. and we were offered 11800 for ours. Since we own it pretty good I decided to keep it for family outings ect. Anyway, BOL with the cherokee those are nice.

Yeah I thought it was low. It was a T&C Touring, DVD, power everything (all rear doors). Basically the salesman that told me to put it on eBay said out west it is no problem to sell it. He said, western PA, OH, IN, all the way to MI they would jump on it for $13995.

Now I know its low. Mine is not the touring edition. basically the same amount of miles. 2 years older. No dvd ect. While its a nice van yours had more options for sure. WE were at two different dealers and both of them were over 11 grand. I thought my 03 was worth 13 retail or so. We choose not to get rid of it till we have to. Someday we may trade it for a conversion van. But for now family events consist of taking two vehicles. We enjoy camping and my truck seats 5. So the wife follows in hers, and sometimes pulls the jetskis.
