Anyone ever have problems with the batteries on their laptops ? I bought a Dell Lattitude CPX off ebay and then bought a battery off ebay for it and the thing only lasted a couple months and i barely use the computer  Any thoughts ? I have used it off line power more than battery power and do leave it plugged in.

That's the problem, you need to let them run down probably once a week. It's not so much a problem with the newer Lithium Ion batteries but is really prevalent in the older NiCad batteries.

That's surprising, any idea whether the battery was used or new when you bought it?

Do not leave the laptop pluged in all the time. And yes run it off the battery at least once a week.

dell recently had a recall on a bunch of their batteries. Ours is about 18 months old, and was getting really bad- down to less than 40min on a ful charge. Then we got a letter in the mail, called the number, and they sent us a new battery. Apparantly the batteries were causing fires.

I'd check the serial number on thier website to see if yours qualifies.
