O.k guys heres a question for you. I have recently bought a dump lift that makes your pick up into a dumper. Today I to a good look at the pick up box on my 1995 F-350, and its not in good condtion. Last year I made a flat-bed for my old 1986 F-250, but I junked the truck and kept the flat-bed.And I could put the flat-bed on my curruent truck and put the dump lift into. And I can get free rack body sides too. I want to know what you guys think I should do. Oh ya got the trans fixed on the truck too 1300 not bad truck is great now with the new trans.

i.ve got an 03 with a 7x8 flat on it with side boxes i love the set up i went to install a under body lift but the bed was to small for the dump to work right its to close to the bumper and fram i'am going with the set up that you have it will work just fine and you can put the sanding tailgate on it for the winter as well good luck roland

flat bed all the way. Even if you dont make it dump, you'll probably like it much better.

I think you're going to end up pretty close to your GVWR with all that stuff on a SRW F-350. I'd try to weigh the flatbed and hoist to see where you'll be at, you'll need to add the weight of the rack sides too. How much cushion will you have left for a load?

Back in the mid 80's I bought a 74 ford F-250 2 wheel drive with one on it. After owning it about 3 months an old lady hit me head on & totaled the truck. I ended up taking the scissors out from under the truck & had a custom made flatbed built for a 80 chevy 4X4. I used that thing for about 15 years & it worked out great. I think the flatbed would make you much happier in the long run.

Pelican- The dump lifting kit is only 165 lbs. and the flat-bed is around 450-500. I think the pick up bed and tail gate lift are around the same weight. I think my GVW is 9,000 lbs and I am not 100% sure what the GVRAW is. I think that I should be alright. Oh ya found out yesterday that the driver side rear leaf spring shackle is rotted out, passenger side is good but driver side is junk surprised that it didn't let go yet. Deconstruction starts today or tomarrow. Pics are to follow if I can figure out how to use it  :grinz :cash

If the bed is shot and needs replacing, then I would consider replacing it with the flat bed body that you already have in your possesion. Having the dump bed kit also in your hands then I would consider using it in conjunction with the flat bed body.
As long as it is in reason GVW wise, then I say Go For It!

After 13 votes it looks unanimous. You will love the versatility of the flatbed.

Well spent yesterday afternoon tearing the pick up bed off the truck. It wasn't that hard once you unhook the tail lights and wireing harness. I used my grinder and ground down the 6 bolts that hold it down to the frame. Once it was unbolted I used 2 floor jacks on the passenger side to lift the box up pretty high. When it was almost falling off I pushed it over on its side. Then I thru a set of tail lights on it and my licsens plate, so that way I can get around for awhile. I have pics of the deconstruction I will post those later today. Today I will drop the rear gas tank and start fixing the rear shackle problem, and I might put in the dump lift surpport beam. I will keep you guys posted. :grinz  ;) :wink
