I just got my issue of Construction Equipment... and in the mag is a study by J.D. Powers..

The study shows that the average number of engine problems has rissend from 44 per 100 to 74 per 100. The study is based on Class 8 trucks.. not sure if this carries down to smaller trucks. but I would think so.. just not sure..

But knowing all the problems some of the trucks are having. maybe it's related ?????

Thank you US government. China is killing the environment in wholesale fashion with high pollution factories making cheap goods to replace american made goods (this is a whole other story) yet our government is all in favor of buying their merchandise as it is money for big business. But on the flip side it feels it needs to push so much environmental law here as to make businesses more expensive to run and products (such as diesel engines) more expensive to buy and use. Seems like hypocrisy to me.

But at any rate I think the emission devises are mostly to blame. The way I see it, the latest 'clean' diesels have more hose clamps and couplings and electrical connections than ever before. That equates to more potential problems. I think the 08 Ford with the twin turbos and dual egr coolers looks like a maintenance nightmare.

They're bringing on-line one new dirty power plant a week, and we're the ones being punished :headwall

"The Environment" is the gospel of the re-distributionist religion, and the emissions equipment on our vehicles are the penance we are all forced to pay.

Carbon credits- can you say indulgences?
