I spilled some (alot) power service on my favorite new mechanix gloves today. How do you get the stank out? will water take it out? Are they done?

It happens to me when I transfer the PS to the smaller bottle all the time. They will never really come back to new but eventually the smeel goes away. I would rather buy new ones than have the Boss (wife) throw em in the washer. Washer was way too exp[ensive to risk $20 gloves.

You know, thats what happens... Shoulda bought a... Oh wait, I'm trolling again, shame on me...

Derek, I destroyed a pair of my favorite jeans and one of my better sweatshirts when I took a bath in Blizzard hydro fluid. They've each been washed 7 times now, and still reek. So, good luck. The good news is gloves are cheap. Maybe try bleach, but again, you risk destroying the gloves.

Well, these are 3-week-old M-Pact2 gloves that I paid a handsome sum for. Ticked me off. I should have known better than to try to hold the measuring device (fuel nozzle) and pour the power service into it while shouldering my phone.

Live and learn...

Nah, just hang out here so you guys can keep reminding me WHY I bought a gasser! The 6.4 sounds pretty enticing, you just never know... My next truck is 3 years out, so anything could happen by then. For now, gotta focus on the the wifes truck, she's due... Oh yeah, that'll be a gasser too, 5.4L 2007 Expedition... Have a feeling though that she'll be just as keen on hanging a plow on it as Lis is with her Durango...

While you probably won't get it all out, there is a powder called "Amaze" which is for getting stains and odour out of baby clothes.I use it to keep my work clothes from stinking,as grease, oil etc is hard to get out.

You ought to be able to minimize the odor by saturating the gloves with brake cleaner. After they are wet, hit them with a shop vac to pull the cleaner and P/S out of the gloves.

Isn't brake cleaner highly flammable? Suck up enough fumes in a shop vac... oh baby!

I imagine if conditions were just right it could present a problem, but I've used this method many times to get grease and oil out of fabrics with no accidents. If there is a concern, non-flammable brake cleaner could be used.

I've always had good luck using an orange hand cleaner on any stained fabrics. Pants, shirts, gloves always come out clean if rubbed with some hand cleaner before washing. Gojo will give you clothes a petro smell, but products like Fast Orange work just as well and smell great too.
