Have snow coming tonight or tomorrow, Ive plowed 4 times this year with no problem, went home the other night and when i went to leave the next morn the plow would not raise.( vary cold ). So i got it back to the shop and discovered when i lower it it blowes the fuse, all other functions work. I replaced the cylinoid for the hell of it. Any ideas? No work has been done to the plow this season that would change anything.

Check the wiring to and from the switches, and out to the a-coil.Disconnect the a-coil,and see if it stops blowing fuses. If it does, the coil is bad.If not,it's a problem with the wiring.

Update: It is no longer blowing fuses but it still will not lower, One thing i need to clarify, I replaced the cylinoid then discovered the blown fuse. So i don't know which was first. After doublechecking/remounting the cylinoid the fuses are ok now, but won't lower. I did takeout the filters and cleaned them and it lowered then but after Replacing the fluid and raising it it won't lower.

I swear i had the same problems when i had my 47 i changed the fluid and cleand the filters and it was fine maybe it's bound up by air locked in there when you changed the fluid?

I just dained the fluid to clean the filter and still has same problem, dose it need to be more extensive to fix the air problem.
I'll see what i can do with that, I changed the fluid the day i had the problem. The reason i changed the fluid was it froze up so i warmed it up & worked fine, so i changed the fluid, i used it for about an hour after that without any problems, that night is when i had a problem.
I just put the old cylinoid back on and its working the same as with the new(all funchions except lower) so its not the cylinoid i guess.

The A coil and valve control the lower function. The A coil has a black wire going to it, and it is on the back of the pump. You can try supplying 12v to it, and see if the plow drops. Connect a long wire to the plug on the A coil. Stay clear of the plow! Stand on the side of the truck the battery is on, and touch the wire to the + on the battery. The plow should drop. If it does not, you have a problem with the A coil or valve. IF it does, you have a problem with the wiring going to it, or your controller. Based on the problem with it not dropping, and previously blowing fuses, I would trace that black wire and look real close for chafes and breaks.

Make sure you take the old one with you, as there is 2 different ones. One I believe is prior to 2001, and the other is 2001 & up. One has a 5/8" stem, the other a 3/8" stem.
