I have 03 F250 with 7'6" Boss straight blade. Just mounted my undercarrige and electrical. The plow is used and now I'm troubleshooting it.
Is the selonoid the same as a common Ford style?
Does it matter wich set of larger post the battery + wire goes to?
Since the plow is used, what type of Hydro fluid should I replace it with?

Sorry not sure about the fluid but do NOT use a ford selinoid! They will not last. Go to a dealer ind get the right one. They only run about $15,get 2 it's a'ways good to have a spare.
It does not matter which way the Bat. is hooked,it is only a bib switch, the juice will flow either direction.
Good luck

Thanks.
I downloaded the troubleshooting sheet from Boss's website. Hopefully this can direct me quickly to the problem. Any other key info to know, why the plow will not work, The smarthitch will also not engage.

Like most problems I had a case of the sillies. I had the control in the float position. No power. The light on the control switch would not illuminate. The first thing I checked was the inline fuse from the fuse panel. It was ok. Put it back together then the switch illuminated. I must have a pinched wire at the inline fuse. I will replace the wire and fuse.
I thought great problem fixed. The smart hitch would not power up. After taking the cover off I found that the orange wire had power. Yet the + side of the switch did not. Turns out the female connector where the jumper wire connects was bad. $0.05 part and I was good to go. It's great when your able fix the small things.

Now I'm going through the headlights.
The passenger side light is very dim. The driver side is bright.
I switch the bulbs around and still the same. I'm thinking the power comes to the driver’s side bulb first, then the passenger side. I must have a broken or loose wire from the driver side to the passenger side. It can't be that much of a voltage drop from one side to the other. Heck it's only 3' of cable.

It turns out the passenger side headlight was dim due to poor ground. Cleaned up the mounting surface and bolt. Now it's complete. Just need a little snow to try it out.

Buying a used plow I guess there will always be those little things. Lucky it was just that. 5 cent female connector, cleaning, and proper ground. Fluid film the contacts.
What is good hydro fluid to use?

Any low temp fluid is fine. They are basically all the same,as stated above.

The ones you usually hear about are guys running trans fluid in real cold weather,or they have other problems which is not the fluids fault.
