I picked up this old blower the other day. It's made by Allis-Chalmers.The guy I purchased it from says it's over 30 years old.

I haven't been able to find out much else about it.Anyone else know much about these things, and if the thing is really 30+ years old ?

See pics below.

Right side.Notice the little thin wire that turns the chute. It's cheesy, but it works. It looks like it was made this way.

Backside. It has a little shifter between the handles for shifting gears. It's an H-pattern.just like a car.

Shot of the gearbox.Solid cast iron.Probably explains why this thing weighs a ton. It's heavy, even for two people to lift out of a truck.

Business end. This thing throws snow like no tommorow.Only thing I had to try it out on was about 8 inches of hardpacked windrowed snow, that was very wet.It chewed through it and spit it about 30 feet.

Shot of the diff lock.Turn it 90 degrees to lock, and both wheels drive together for better traction.Turn it back,so the wheels unlock for esier turning and transport.

That blower looks sweet. Reminds me a little of my newer Ariens, 12 hp 36" which has many of the same features. That transmission looks bullet proof. A little orange and white paint and it will look brand new. You should be able to buy Allis-Chalmers orange paint. We've used it on our Jacobson Estate lawn mowers as the orange color is very similar.

Chris if you didn't say it was Allis-Chalmers I would swear it's a symplicity .It looks just like the one my farther had and it was about the same age if not older.Let me tell you it would go thru anything. but like alot of old machines it's no longer being used and been put out to pasture.

Could it be possible that Simplicity made them for Allis-Chalmers ? Kind of like MTD makes Crafstman, etc ? Maybe that's why there is virtually no info on it on the web.

That could be Chris if you need info on it that might be a place to check. If you did not tell me it was that I would of thought it to be a simplicity.

I was thinking the same thing my father in law had a simplicity that looked almost identical to that.

what would you like to know about it? Yes it is probably 30 + years old and yes Simplicity and Allis chalmers were built in the same factory for a while.
www.simpletractors.com a cool site for collectors of both allis and simplicity should have any info you want.
