Good morning gentlemen,
I want to install a set of grip warmers on my Artic Cat ATV. The directions say to wire the positive to a,"switchted sorce." I believe this is to keep from draining the battery if I forgot to shut them off after I turned off the ATV. (If wired directly to the battery.) My question is were can I tie in to a power sorce. Should I come off the ingnition fuse? I am not an electrician but I know enough to be dangerous. I would appreciate any feedback that could be offered. Thank you,
Adam

It shouldn't be to hard to find an ignition hot source with a test light,but......
What is the current draw of the heated grips ? Most small motorcycle stuff uses very small wiring, and not many circuits,so you may overload a circuit by adding a few amps to it from the heated grips.
The best way is to wire up a relay (mini relay would probably work better due to it being smaller),and use it to run the grips. The relay can then be triggered by any ignition source, and it will draw power from the battery when energized.
You can hide the relay in the airbox,to help keep it dry.

Come on Bill, give the guy a break. His first post and you haul it right into the gutter.

I think Chris gave you the best solution for your question.
The only thing you would need to do is wire in a switch to the relay to disable the grips when not needed.
Gee Bill your gonna scare the poor guy away. Give him at least 25 posts before you take him to the BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD Side...

Thank you for the feedback guys. I figured that the warmers would need a seperate relay... I just was unsure as to where to tie in to a power sorce. As far as the jokes are concerned I welcome a good laugh.
Thank you again,

Aperkins, welcome to LTS. Should've done that right away.
I was hoping you'd get a laugh, I was just giving ProSno a hard time.
