I've tried just about all of them, but I still seem to return to the Anco WinterBlade. Make sure you have a good coat of Rain-X windsheild wax on there and they should last a good long time. Everything seems to freeze up, but I'm not about to spring for heated blade for the few storms that we get anymore.

Good question. I never could tell the difference between one or the other. Then again, I never tried to compare them. It's rubber that wipes off the water. I always just used what I could get my hands on. Usually something from the dealer. I tend to stick with original parts. If there is a system for picking wiper blades I'd sure be interested in knowing the what and whys of doing so.

I tried the rubbermaid ones at Wally world, first one the plastic holder broke. We'll see how the rest do. I'm going back to Anco, haven't found anything better, even Napa sends me to VIP auto for Anco's because they say theirs suck.

Honestly I dont think any are really great, I used Anco for years there okay. I dont care for the winter blades, there useless on the highway in a head wind. The Napa's are about equal in my book, and I keep the money local. I used to get Anco at Wally world. We try not to spend as much there now.

I bought a set of Bosche for my f350 and today I hate them. We got that mist/drizzle stuff so delay on wipers were set to clean off the windsheild as needed, but these are the noisest wipers I've ever used in my entire life:mad:  even with the defroster on high the blades quickly froze up in spots requiring the snap the wiper blade going down the road to see ritual.

When I head out this afternoon I'm going back to the Anco winter blades I've used for years and never had problems with...these Bosche cost me a pretty penny and the noise alone makes me want to just ride with my head out of the window to see, very dissapointed with these blades and their cost:mad:

I traditionally use Anco standard blades, I've never been happy with the winter blades since they still freeze up. The last set of Anco's I had chattered like crazy after 6 months and started streaking bad. Seems they dried out quicker than usual. A few days ago at Target, the only ones I could find were Michelin blades, and they seem to be good blades. Time will tell with these. The worst blades are the ones from CarQuest stores. They're terrible right out of the box.

Ditto on the Carquest. Made it one storm when I tried them the first time. What crap and a waste of money. Haven't been overly thrilled with NAPA either so I stick with Anco winter blades on the trucks without Everblades.

Todd, headwind? Just go faster and the air pressure will push them on. :jk I have a problem with either because of my bug deflector.

Well I am recanting my original post about the Napa Exact fits.
The new set sucks !
They were fine in the rain but now that it is cold they leave a nice streak at the top of both wipers. Last year I put a set on towards the end of the season and they worked great. Now the new ones dont work well.:( The last set did okay for the first storm but it was warmer in Dec.
Well back to Anco and Wally world.

Just duck tape your under wear on them LOL/ Hate to break your hearts Napa wiper blades are Anco reboxed for Napa.

I go threw crap loads on the plow trucks still have the heated blades on the service truck that Jerre put on two years ago i dont drive that truck but no body has complained to me.

Biggest reason my blades fail early is i hate scaping windshields so i just use lots of washer solvent and the blades that takes a toll on them. Underwear would have worked better that the ones i changed out last night.

Seems like I heard the same thing about the Carquest brand. True?? I don't know for sure.

I'm with you Fred, what's an ice scraper? Wipers and fluid work for me.

So the underwear you're recommending, is that before or after they start to chafe?

As Mom always said, make sure that you are wearing clean underwear, never no when you are going to be in an accident. Do the clean ones work better than the dirty ones?

You never have clean underwear after an accident... first you say "It" then you do "It"...

Canadian Tire sells a frameless blade here and they work good. I was in Wal-Mart last week and I see that rain-x has put out there own version and a forum I recently came across said boch has something like them as well. They are not cheap. The blades will set you back a good $50 to $60 and I usually put the biggest blades that will fit on my window.

They have a new version which has Teflon or something on the blade that is supposed to help. A tip I read somewhere was to take a warm rag or used underwear (as I see some of you are already using) and wipe the blade down to get rid of the crap that’s has built up on it.

Just my opinion, but on my trucks when I change to snow tires for plow season I change wiper blades to winter blades. Full rubber encased on the trucks. I change the trucks back to steel frame with the summer tires. Summer/allseason blades like summer/all season tires don't belong on a plow truck.

Another thing, I run a shorter wiper in the winter, less ice build-up out on the ends. The Chevy windshield is aweful for that.

These seem to be the best ones I have used so far. I have had them on for about 4 months. I will see how they do in the winter but expect they will last.

I always used Tri-co, but they seem to be harder to find now that most small auto parts stores are out of business. I used Tri-co winter blades with boots, and Armorall the boot with a rag. Make sure you don't get ANY on the blade though, LOL. They still ice up, just not as bad. I got the Bosch for my wife's van and they were shot in 6 months. Cleaning them often didn't help at all. I have Anco on the Jeep and they are the best I can find. I'd still go back to Tri-co if I could find them.

I put a set of the new Michelen wipers on, got covered with ice, then the wiper blade slipped out of the track and had to be put back in. Still searching for a good wiper:popcorn2

What a coincidence. I just bought wipers on Fri and happened to grab the Anco winter blades. I got them at walmart for $5.88 each. Glad I did as they look like the best blade and for 5 bucks thats pretty cheap too. :cash

I just replaced mine with winter blades, but can't remember the brand. Maybe Anco, but whatever they are, they suck. The passenger side won't even conform the windshield. They ice up fast in the snow and chatter in the rain. I'm gonna go back to the old summer blades :(

We use the Teflon winter blades from Canadian Tire. I spray Rain-X in the gap on the window between the wiper and the hood to help keep the ice build up down.

$100/set for Everblades was too rich for me this year. Especially for three trucks.

federal mogul owns 75% of all autoparts brands and i bet if you look close to your spark plugs, wipers and chassis parts they have a little federal mogul logo on them.

guess what anco is owned by federal mogul. i sell tons of blades at the store i work at. most wiper blades these days only last 6 months.

I've tried Anco Winters (so-so) Rain-x (noisiest F'n wipers I have EVER used, nearly drove me crazy). Needed a new wiper blade out plowing one night, stopped at Autozone (only place open) and bought their cheapy store brand winter wiper (I believe it is Duralast) and WOW! For $5.99 I got a wiper that actually cleans the windshield properly and DOESN'T drive me nuts with the incessant noise when intermittent is on. Even if I have to replace them yearly it's worth it. Sometimes more expensive isn't always better.

Bought some of the fancy bosh ones. They arnt the ones with the condoms on em to keep the snow from getting between the structure, they are all black rubber plastic stuff. Quite a bit pricier than the ancos.....but they dont lift off the windshield at highway speed. Thats one thing I couldnt stand about conventional condom over the frame style winter blades. They are working pretty darn good too.

Ive always used Anco winter blades year round and they work great. Just one thing about them is they are taller than most blades, so they ride up on the stop blocks at the base of the windshield and develop an unwiped spot in the middle. Filing down the stop blocks was a free and easy fix.

Phil, lemme know how you come out with the Bosche ones. I tried them last summer and i only got about a month's worth of use and they got hard, then started chattering across the windsheild plus making all the screeching noises...literally the worst pair of wipers I've ever bought to date..just wondering if they changed their rubber formula. They did work fantastic when new, I will say that, but i think they all do initally, but i expect for the money they costed to last more than a month.

Cant remember the name of the ones i have now, Contours or something like that i bought from Oreilly's last summer. So far I'm still pretty impressed with the windsheild hugging ability and how nicely they squeege the windsheild, but it is getting time to replace, with all the ice we've had this year, i see i'm getting little "nips" taken out of the rubber and is causing a line here or there once in awhile..more so when it's snowing/refreezing on contact.

Tring to remember....think I have at least 2 months on em? They still seem to be working fine.

Before I always bought new winter blades come winter and come summer if the blades were OK I would rip the condom part off em so they wouldnt lift off at highway speed. Mostly becasue I'm cheap and lazy. Run em to the ground and either get new summer blades or winter ones if I managed to eek an entire year outa them.

IHI
01-07-2008, 12:32 PM
Yep, that's how i am...I'll run whatever i have in the summer until i tire of ice/snow freezing them up, and then i'll stop in mid storm and throw some winter blades on, then run them until i tire of them flopping around in the hwy/lifting at hwy speeds when it's raining and then stop at a store and swap them out in a car wash bay LOL!! Did i ever mention car wash bays make for some nice emergency shelters for quick fixes/assements:cool:

These current ones i have, I'm pretty happy with. By far the best performing summer/rain blade i've had on the truck, and so far this winter I cant complain a bit...it's nice cuz they're a prebent peice of rubber so there's no springs to clog up with ice/snow, but they're getting old and probably due for replacement.
